Role
The Land Surveyor - Infrastructure supports construction supervision by ensuring site works are accurately set out, measured, verified, and recorded according to approved drawings, specifications, and required tolerances. The role contributes to safe and efficient infrastructure delivery by maintaining survey control, checking service locations, protecting existing utilities, preparing survey records, and supporting as-built documentation for stormwater networks, pump stations, and associated utility works.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform land surveys, field surveys, geodetic calculations, and survey verification activities for infrastructure construction works.
* Coordinate with contractors and the site supervision team to confirm survey requirements, setting-out data, control points, and field priorities.
* Carry out setting-out activities, level checks, alignment checks, and tolerance verification for ongoing construction activities.
* Verify service locations and support protection of existing utilities during excavation, construction, and installation works.
* Maintain survey control points, benchmarks, reference points, and survey markers in accurate and usable condition.
* Prepare and maintain survey records, including field books, sketches, calculations, survey notes, and measurement data.
* Measure completed works when required to support progress verification, quantity checks, and site documentation.
* Assist in preparing as-built survey information and support the development of accurate as-built drawings.
* Operate GPS, Total Station, data collectors, CAD tools, survey software, and related field equipment.
* Review survey data and coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and contractors to resolve discrepancies or site constraints.
* Support construction supervision for stormwater networks, pump stations, wet utilities, dry utilities, and related infrastructure elements.
* Maintain clear documentation of survey findings, site observations, calculations, and field verification results.
* Follow project HSE procedures and actively support safe work practices during all site survey activities.
* Participate in site safety initiatives and report hazards, access issues, or unsafe conditions where identified.
* Perform other responsibilities associated with land surveying and construction supervision as required by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or engineering qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant land surveying experience on infrastructure projects.
* Strong practical experience using GPS, Total Station, data collectors, CAD software, and survey tools.
* Experience supporting stormwater networks, pump stations, utilities, roads, or major civil infrastructure works.
* Good understanding of setting-out, level verification, control points, benchmarks, field calculations, and as-built survey records.
* Ability to read and interpret approved drawings, survey information, construction details, and project specifications.
* Good communication, coordination, and documentation skills for working with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and site teams.
* Strong commitment to HSE compliance, safe work practices, and construction site discipline.
* Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS platforms, and 3D models is preferred.
* Accurate, organized, and able to maintain reliable survey records under active site conditions.
