Role Context
The Landscape Inspector - O and M will inspect landscape works and public realm maintenance activities to confirm that softscape, hardscape, irrigation, and related site works are carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, safety procedures, and quality expectations. The role supports the Resident Engineer by maintaining accurate records, coordinating with contractors and material testing teams, monitoring workmanship, reporting non-compliance, managing measurement records, and helping reduce construction impact on nearby residents and business owners.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect soft landscaping, hard landscaping, irrigation works, and public realm operations and maintenance activities against approved drawings and specifications.
* Check site conditions to confirm suitability for designed landscape work and provide practical comments on construction and maintenance issues.
* Maintain a detailed daily diary covering work activities, site issues, approvals, rejections, working hours, labour, equipment, and key observations.
* Coordinate daily with the contractor\'s foreman to confirm proper execution of landscape, irrigation, and public realm works.
* Interface professionally with residents, business owners, and the public near the work area to help reduce construction and maintenance impacts.
* Coordinate with the Materials Technician to arrange sampling, testing, and quality assurance checks for completed works or suspect materials.
* Report questionable contractor methods, poor workmanship, unsafe practices, or non-compliance with plans and specifications to the Resident Engineer.
* Maintain records of completed works for interim payments, final payments, as-built plans, and project close-out documentation.
* Process joint measurement forms and maintain accurate records of their status and supporting information.
* Record day works activities in detail and maintain clear documentation of labour, equipment, quantities, and contractor actions.
* Document contractor activities that may lead to claims and provide factual records to support project administration.
* Issue clear instructions to the foreman in charge of the work while maintaining fair, firm, and professional communication with the contractor.
* Notify the Resident Engineer of site conditions that make specification enforcement impractical or unreasonable.
* Report and document any site accident immediately and notify the Resident Engineer through the proper project channels.
* Enforce execution of works in accordance with the approved safety plan and project HSE requirements.
* Use computer systems to access records, maintain inspection information, generate reports, and support project documentation.
* Perform other landscape inspection and site supervision responsibilities appropriate to the project assignment.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor degree in Landscape Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
* UAE Ministry of Education equivalency certificate is mandatory.
* Minimum 4 years of demonstrable experience in landscaping, irrigation, operations and maintenance, and public realm works.
* Ability to read working drawings, understand specifications, and enforce project requirements on site.
* Experience working on Abu Dhabi Municipality projects is preferred.
* ADM approval as Landscape Inspector is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of soft landscaping, hard landscaping, irrigation systems, public realm maintenance, site inspection, and contractor supervision.
* Ability to maintain accurate daily diaries, measurement records, reports, as-built information, and payment-related documentation.
* Fully computer literate with the ability to maintain records, access project data, and generate reports.
* Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, contractors, residents, business owners, and stakeholders.
* Fair, firm, safety-focused, and practical approach to contractor coordination, site decision-making, and quality enforcement.
