Key Responsibilities
* Lead the technical delivery of bridge, structural, and transportation-related design packages across multiple projects running in parallel.
* Review structural design work prepared by the team and ensure quality checks are completed before formal submission.
* Deliver technically sound bridge and infrastructure structure designs that meet project requirements, safety expectations, and engineering standards.
* Identify practical value engineering opportunities that improve design efficiency, constructability, cost control, and long-term asset performance.
* Plan, allocate, and coordinate engineering resources to support design commissions, delivery milestones, and client commitments.
* Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Discipline Leads, Technical Managers, and design teams to manage schedules, information flow, and interdisciplinary interfaces.
* Set clear priorities with project leadership and ensure design teams understand deliverables, deadlines, expectations, and technical requirements.
* Attend meetings with clients and approving authorities to present design matters, respond to comments, and support approval processes.
* Provide clear technical direction to structural design teams and guide engineers through complex design challenges.
* Report to the Technical Director on project delivery, staffing needs, team utilization, workload planning, and design progress.
* Support recruitment, mentoring, people management, and capability development within the structural engineering team.
* Act as deputy Technical Director when required and provide leadership support across technical, project, and team matters.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
* Strong senior-level experience in bridge design, transportation structures, and major infrastructure engineering projects.
* Proven ability to lead technical delivery across multiple design commissions at the same time.
* Strong understanding of structural analysis, bridge engineering, design quality control, constructability, and authority approval processes.
* Experience leading technical reviews and checking engineering deliverables before submission.
* Ability to coordinate with project managers, technical directors, discipline leads, clients, authorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong knowledge of local and international structural design standards related to bridges and transportation infrastructure.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical matters clearly to clients, approving authorities, and internal leadership.
* Strong leadership ability with experience guiding engineers, assigning priorities, and supporting team development.
* Commercial awareness and practical understanding of delivery schedules, resources, staffing, utilization, and project commitments.
