Role Summary
Materials Inspector in Dubai will support AECOM on major roads, infrastructure, and bridge projects by inspecting construction materials, supervising site works, verifying test results, and ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality procedures, and authority requirements. This role is suitable for a detail-oriented civil inspection professional with strong experience in material testing, infrastructure construction, and QA/QC support.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect materials used for roads, infrastructure, and bridge construction works to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved standards.
* Supervise assigned site activities and confirm that works are executed according to approved drawings, method statements, and inspection requirements.
* Review material delivery records, test certificates, sampling reports, and laboratory test results for accuracy and compliance.
* Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, laboratory teams, and quality personnel for material sampling, testing, and approval procedures.
* Monitor construction activities related to roadworks, bridges, earthworks, concrete works, asphalt works, utilities, drainage, and associated infrastructure elements.
* Verify that materials delivered to site match approved material submittals and project requirements.
* Conduct routine inspections and report non-conforming materials, poor workmanship, or deviations from specifications.
* Support the preparation of inspection reports, material logs, test records, site observations, and quality documentation.
* Follow up on corrective actions related to material quality issues and ensure proper closure of site observations or NCRs.
* Assist engineers in reviewing contractor work quality and confirming readiness for inspections and testing.
* Ensure site activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
* Coordinate with supervision teams to maintain proper inspection coverage and timely reporting.
* Maintain accurate records of approved materials, rejected materials, test results, and site inspection findings.
* Support project handover documentation by verifying material records, as-built information, and quality control files.
* Contribute to smooth project delivery by ensuring material quality, specification compliance, and reliable inspection control.
Candidate Requirements
* Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Experience as a Materials Inspector on roads, infrastructure, bridges, highways, or civil construction projects.
* Good knowledge of construction materials, including concrete, asphalt, aggregates, soil, reinforcement, backfill, and related infrastructure materials.
* Understanding of material testing procedures, site sampling, laboratory coordination, inspection requests, and QA/QC documentation.
* Ability to read and understand project specifications, approved drawings, material submittals, method statements, and test reports.
* Experience supporting roads and infrastructure supervision teams in Dubai or the UAE is preferred.
* Familiarity with authority requirements, quality standards, and civil construction inspection procedures.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify material defects, non-conformances, and site quality issues.
* Good reporting, communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
* Ability to work with contractors, engineers, inspectors, laboratory teams, and project stakeholders in an active site environment.
