Role Context
The
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct testing of assigned project materials in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and quality requirements.
* Supervise site sampling and testing activities to ensure material checks are completed accurately and on time.
* Witness laboratory tests and in situ tests performed by contractors or third-party testing agencies.
* Prepare samples, testing documentation, and related reports for review by the Materials Engineer and project team.
* Coordinate with the Materials Engineer to confirm approval of works for testing and discuss areas of concern.
* Perform sampling and testing efficiently to avoid unnecessary delays to contractor operations.
* Carry out regular checks of materials delivered to site to confirm compliance with approved sources, suppliers, and material submittals.
* Inspect construction materials used on site, including concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel, and other project-related materials.
* Support quality control and quality assurance activities related to material review, approval, testing, and acceptance.
* Assist the Materials Engineer in evaluating material submissions, test results, inspection records, and acceptance documentation.
* Read and interpret working drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and method statements.
* Enforce material specifications, approved drawings, and contract requirements during site inspections.
* Identify non-conforming materials and report concerns to the Materials Engineer or relevant project team member.
* Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, sampling logs, site observations, and material tracking documents.
* Use computer systems and project-specific engineering software to access data, update records, and generate reports.
* Coordinate effectively with contractors, laboratory representatives, inspectors, engineers, and construction supervision teams.
* Apply current civil engineering technology and material testing practices where relevant to project requirements.
* Support large civil, structural, roads, and infrastructure works through consistent material inspection and reporting.
* Perform other responsibilities associated with the Materials Inspector role as required by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
* At least 3 years diploma or associate degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Materials, or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of experience on roads and infrastructure projects.
* Good knowledge of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel, and related standards and specifications.
* Ability to read working drawings, technical specifications, inspection and test plans, and method statements.
* Capable of enforcing project specifications, contract drawings, quality requirements, and approved inspection procedures.
* Experience in sampling, laboratory testing, in situ testing, material acceptance, and construction quality documentation.
* Able to use computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate inspection or testing reports.
* Familiarity with project-specific engineering and construction software is preferred.
* UAE or Dubai project experience will be an advantage.
* Good written and oral communication skills for coordination with engineers, contractors, laboratory teams, and site staff.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
* Knowledge of current civil engineering technology and its practical use on large civil, structural, industrial, roads, or infrastructure projects.
