Materials Inspector - Roads and Bridges in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced inspection professional who can monitor materials testing, site quality, contractor compliance, and infrastructure construction activities across major roads, bridges, and civil works projects. The role supports project delivery by ensuring that materials, workmanship, structural elements, inspections, documentation, and site procedures meet approved specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Inspect roads, infrastructure, bridge works, and related civil construction activities to confirm compliance with project specifications and contract documents.
* Review applicable codes, standards, drawings, specifications, and site instructions before monitoring construction works.
* Carry out general inspection of contractor and subcontractor activities to support safe, compliant, and workmanlike operations.
* Verify equipment settings, alignment checks, testing requirements, and energization-related activities where applicable.
* Maintain daily records of contractor manpower, equipment, materials delivery, inspections, and site progress.
* Conduct site supervision and inspections as directed by the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
* Follow up daily with contractors to ensure resources, health and safety practices, equipment, and work activities are properly managed.
* Prepare daily reports covering work orders, material deliveries, inspection programs, site observations, and quality concerns.
* Implement site quality controls, inspection procedures, and quality documentation requirements.
* Assist with site measurements, surveying checks, pipe alignment checks, levels, and related verification tasks.
* Coordinate with the client project manager during site inspections in the presence of the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
* Support preparation of correspondence related to contract requirements, site instructions, inspection findings, and construction issues.
* Work with the project supervision team to resolve site problems quickly and maintain project progress.
* Monitor start-up, commissioning, handover activities, and project milestone records.
* Maintain accurate records of materials tests, executed works, inspection outcomes, and quality verification results.
* Audit inspections for conformity with contract documents, approved drawings, and contractor submitted plans.
* Inspect waterproofing, expansion joints, protective coatings, structural finishes, formwork stripping, and repair works.
* Verify handling, lifting, installation, and quality of precast and cast-in-situ structural components.
* Check that structural interfaces with utilities, roads, and other project elements are coordinated and executed without conflict.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant technical field.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in laboratory materials testing, field inspection, roads, bridges, or infrastructure construction projects.
* Practical experience in comparable roads and bridges projects within a consultancy, contractor, or supervision environment.
* Middle East project experience will be preferred.
* Strong understanding of construction materials, sampling, testing records, quality checks, and inspection procedures.
* Able to read drawings, specifications, method statements, contract documents, and inspection requirements.
* Familiar with site supervision practices, contractor coordination, safety awareness, and quality control processes.
* Capable of preparing clear daily reports, inspection records, material testing logs, and site documentation.
* Good coordination skills with engineers, contractors, client representatives, and project supervision teams.
* Detail-focused approach with the ability to identify non-compliance, report issues, and support timely corrective action.
