The role requires extensive civil engineering experience, advanced hydraulic modeling capability, and technical leadership across wastewater collection, conveyance, disposal, pumping, treatment, and associated utility systems.
The Principal Engineer will independently manage technical assignments and lead design engineers, hydraulic modelers, and drafting personnel. Responsibilities extend from engineering calculations and hydraulic models through specifications, design reports, supplier reviews, construction documentation, utility coordination, and approvals from relevant authorities.

Water and Wastewater Design
- Perform advanced civil engineering and design assignments for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Lead the design of wastewater collection, conveyance, and disposal networks.
- Independently prepare and supervise engineering calculations, designs, estimates, surveys, and material quantity takeoffs.
- Develop detailed requisitions for materials, services, and subcontracts.
- Prepare technical specifications, data sheets, design reports, and construction documentation.
- Apply engineering principles and available project data to complex infrastructure design requirements.
- Coordinate technical requirements throughout different stages of design development.
Hydraulic Modeling
- Lead development of hydraulic models for gravity wastewater networks.
- Perform and supervise wastewater network hydraulic analysis.
- Apply Bentley SewerCAD and SewerGEMS to network modeling and design.
- Use InfoSWMM and InfoWorks CS for applicable hydraulic modeling requirements.
- Review model inputs, assumptions, calculations, and outputs.
- Translate hydraulic analysis into practical engineering design solutions.
- Prepare supporting calculations and hydraulic design reports.
- Perform load and demand calculations for large private developments and government projects.
Wastewater Infrastructure Systems
The role requires working knowledge of planning, design, and construction requirements across centralized and decentralized wastewater infrastructure.
- Support design of primary, secondary, and tertiary wastewater treatment systems.
- Develop engineering requirements for sewerage networks.
- Address wastewater pumping system requirements.
- Apply knowledge of passive and active wastewater systems.
- Consider sludge and effluent management within applicable infrastructure designs.
- Coordinate collection and conveyance systems with treatment and disposal requirements.
- Evaluate system interfaces and technical dependencies during design development.
Technical Reviews and Documentation
- Independently review supplier drawing submittals.
- Perform technical bid analyses.
- Supervise preparation and issuance of engineering specifications.
- Prepare and review technical data sheets.
- Coordinate development of construction documents.
- Provide technical input to CAD Designers and Drafters.
- Undertake CAD-related engineering tasks when required.

- Develop utility cross sections in accordance with applicable local authority requirements, including DMT requirements in Abu Dhabi.
- Apply relevant British and American codes to wastewater system design.
- Incorporate applicable DEWA and DM regulations where required.
- Liaise with service provider agencies during project development.
- Coordinate submissions for No Objection Certificates.
- Support applications and technical coordination for design approvals.
- Respond to relevant authority and service provider requirements.
Design Team Leadership
- Independently lead teams of design engineers, hydraulic modelers, and drafting personnel.
- Manage small to medium-sized engineering design teams.
- Assign and coordinate technical design activities.
- Provide engineering direction throughout design development.

- Guide resolution of complex water and wastewater engineering issues.
