Key Responsibilities
* Lead a team of structural engineers in delivering major bridge, tunnel, underpass, and transportation infrastructure design projects.
* Prepare and oversee structural design drawings, specifications, calculations, design reports, and technical submittals in line with project requirements.
* Take technical responsibility for engineering production by the structures team on assigned projects.
* Ensure structural design outputs comply with relevant local authority requirements, international standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
* Lead technical correspondence, studies, reports, and responses related to structural engineering works.
* Respond professionally and promptly to structural design queries from clients, approval authorities, and project stakeholders.
* Coordinate with geotechnical specialists on soil-structure interaction, foundation design interfaces, and constructability-related matters.
* Coordinate structural engineering activities with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and conflict-free design delivery.
* Interface with clients, approval agencies, and authorities for bridge, tunnel, underpass, and transportation structure design works.
* Coordinate with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other relevant Dubai and UAE authorities for technical reviews and approvals.
* Provide technical advice to other engineering departments on bridges, tunnels, underpasses, and related structures.
* Support pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, post-award meetings, contract discussions, and technical clarifications.
* Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex structural design problems using practical engineering judgment and recognized standards.
* Plan engineering resources effectively to support project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and identified outcomes.
* Manage competing project priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and timely submission of structural design packages.
* Mentor structural engineers and support the professional development of the project design team.
* Perform additional duties as directed by the Design Director and Structural Manager.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a dependable structural engineering leader with strong bridge and tunnel design expertise, Dubai authority experience, and proven ability to deliver major infrastructure projects. This role requires a technically confident professional who can lead teams, solve complex design challenges, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain high-quality engineering output.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
* Minimum 15 years of post-graduate professional experience in structural engineering design and construction.
* Strong experience in precast concrete bridges, cast-in-place concrete bridges, tunnels, segmental bridges, and span-by-span bridge design.
* Demonstrated experience delivering bridge, tunnel, underpass, and transportation infrastructure projects in Dubai and the UAE.
* Strong familiarity with Dubai Roads and Transport Authority requirements, approval processes, design guidelines, and local authority standards.
* Experience coordinating with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, clients, approval agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
* Fully conversant with AASHTO LRFD, American Concrete Institute standards, Steel Construction Manual of the American Institute of Steel Construction, and RTA bridge and tunnel design requirements.
* Experience applying local and international structural engineering design standards.
* Demonstrated project management experience delivering multiple projects within strict deadlines, budgets, and required outcomes.
* Strong ability to investigate and resolve complex structural design issues independently.
* Ability to plan resources, manage conflicting priorities, and lead structural design delivery across diverse projects.
* High-level written and spoken English communication skills.
* Ability to prepare accurate reports, technical correspondence, studies, and high-quality presentations.
* US Professional Engineer registration or equivalent is preferred.
* Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university is preferred.
* Experience in design and construction of steel bridges will be an advantage.
