Role Context
The QA-QC Engineer - Materials will support construction supervision teams by ensuring that materials used on infrastructure, bridges, utilities, stormwater, and civil works meet approved specifications, contract requirements, testing procedures, and authority standards. The role helps protect project quality by reviewing material submittals, verifying traceability, coordinating inspections, monitoring laboratory testing, maintaining quality records, and resolving material-related quality issues before they affect progress, compliance, or handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement and monitor the project quality management system, site quality plans, material control procedures, and approved inspection processes.
* Review contractor inspection requests, method statements, inspection and test plans, subcontractor prequalification documents, and quality-related submissions.
* Coordinate inspections and verify that material-related activities comply with approved ITPs, sampling plans, testing procedures, and project specifications.
* Review and approve material submittals, mix designs, source approvals, compliance certificates, test certificates, and supporting technical documentation.
* Confirm material traceability through delivery inspections, supplier records, batch information, test reports, certificates, and site verification.
* Monitor third-party laboratory testing activities and ensure testing is performed in line with project requirements and recognized standards.
* Conduct site inspections, material spot checks, storage checks, workmanship observations, and compliance reviews across active work areas.
* Manage non-conformance reports, corrective actions, preventive actions, quality records, close-out files, and handover documentation.
* Support audits, quality reporting, inspection summaries, material status updates, and project compliance reviews.
* Liaise with contractors, supervision teams, laboratories, suppliers, consultants, and internal project staff to resolve quality concerns.
* Verify that approved materials are incorporated into the works and that rejected or non-compliant materials are properly controlled.
* Review material testing outcomes and coordinate corrective action when results fall outside specification limits.
* Maintain accurate quality records, material registers, inspection logs, NCR trackers, approval records, and traceability documentation.
* Support continuous improvement in site quality processes by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical corrective measures.
* Ensure quality activities align with ISO 9000 principles, applicable ASTM, ASME, ANSI standards, and local authority expectations where relevant.
Ideal Profile
* BSc in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification, with relevant professional registration where applicable.
* 8-10 years of experience on major infrastructure, bridges, utilities, stormwater, or civil engineering projects.
* Abu Dhabi project experience is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of material approval processes, construction specifications, testing procedures, inspection workflows, and quality documentation.
* Familiarity with DMT and ADM requirements is required, while DMT or TAQA approval is preferred.
* Experience reviewing material submittals, mix designs, source approvals, compliance certificates, test reports, and supplier documentation.
* Practical understanding of site quality management, NCR handling, corrective actions, handover records, and third-party laboratory coordination.
* Knowledge of ISO 9000, ASTM, ASME, and ANSI standards is an advantage.
* Proficiency in MS Office and QA-QC reporting systems.
