Role Context
The Resident Engineer - Parks Landscape will act as the Engineer’s delegated representative during construction and will oversee daily field engineering activities across parks, landscape, public realm, civil works, and supporting infrastructure. The position is responsible for keeping site works aligned with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, safety procedures, authority requirements, and project schedules. Strong supervision, technical judgment, documentation control, and stakeholder coordination are essential to maintain progress and deliver high-quality public realm assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the Engineer’s delegated representative during construction and interface directly with the contractor.
* Lead day-to-day construction supervision across parks, landscape, public realm, civil works, and associated infrastructure activities.
* Plan, schedule, supervise, and exercise administrative authority over field engineering work on the project.
* Monitor site activities, construction progress, workmanship quality, safety performance, and compliance with project requirements.
* Issue instructions to correct non-conformances, poor workmanship, safety concerns, and deviations from approved documentation.
* Coordinate with the client, designers, contractors, authorities, and project stakeholders to resolve site issues and maintain progress.
* Provide technical direction to site engineers, inspectors, surveyors, and supervision team members.
* Review contractor submissions, site queries, inspection records, technical documents, and construction-related correspondence.
* Support contract administration activities including variations, claims, payment recommendations, project records, and progress reporting.
* Chair site meetings and ensure timely communication, action tracking, approvals, and document control.
* Review construction progress against approved programs and escalate risks, delays, constraints, and coordination gaps.
* Drive HSE compliance across site activities and promote safe work practices throughout the project.
* Review contractor HSE reports and ensure incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions are reported and followed up properly.
* Support quality control by ensuring works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and authority requirements.
* Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical clarifications, interface issues, and site adaptation requirements.
* Support authority coordination, approval follow-up, inspections, and handover processes for parks, landscape, and infrastructure works.
* Ensure project records, site instructions, meeting minutes, inspection notes, reports, and correspondence are complete and properly maintained.
* Assist in reviewing contractor payment applications, progress measurements, change records, and supporting documentation.
* Maintain strong communication with project leadership and provide clear updates on progress, risks, quality, safety, and contractor performance.
* Perform other responsibilities related to resident engineering and construction supervision as assigned by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
* Minimum 15 years of experience delivering infrastructure, parks, landscape, public realm, or roadworks projects.
* Strong construction supervision and field engineering background on major civil and landscape-related projects.
* Experience acting in a Resident Engineer or senior supervision role with responsibility for contractor management and site delivery.
* Strong ability to manage contractors, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and communicate effectively with clients, designers, authorities, and stakeholders.
* Sound knowledge of authority approval processes and handover requirements in Abu Dhabi.
* Equivalency certificate from the Ministry of Education is required.
* ADM or DMT approval is preferred.
* Familiarity with CAD and related engineering software is an advantage.
* Strong reporting, correspondence, documentation, and site meeting management skills.
* Good understanding of quality control, HSE compliance, construction sequencing, and contract administration.
* Able to lead site engineers, inspectors, and surveyors with clear direction, accountability, and professional discipline.
* Organized, decisive, and capable of managing complex site issues, public realm interfaces, and fast-moving construction priorities.
