The Senior BIM CAD Technician supports the digital design process for infrastructure projects by preparing accurate CAD drawings, developing coordinated BIM models, identifying clashes, managing revisions, and keeping design information controlled from project start-up through completion. The role helps design teams improve model reliability, submission quality, drawing readability, and utility coordination by working with BIM managers, design leads, engineers, CAD teams, and project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
* Work with the CAD and BIM Manager, BIM Lead, design leads, and engineers to ensure project drawings and models follow approved policies, procedures, standards, and timelines.
* Prepare, revise, and manage CAD drawings and BIM models for infrastructure wet and dry utilities projects.
* Coordinate design inputs with multiple CAD and BIM teams and raise clashes, missing information, or interface concerns early.
* Develop engineering drawings using CAD workstations, project design data, sketches, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and component details.
* Prepare utility layouts, basic arrangements, routing plans, cross sections, network drawings, and model-based design deliverables.
* Manage BIM-related activities from project start-up to completion in coordination with design and engineering teams.
* Review drawings for readability, presentation quality, technical accuracy, and compliance with company QA and QC requirements.
* Create and manage parametric and non-parametric families for project modelling and content development needs.
* Produce schedules, quantity extractions, and model-based information to support design reviews, reporting, and submissions.
* Support clash detection, clash review, issue tracking, and clash resolution using appropriate BIM coordination tools.
* Maintain proper documentation of design changes, drawing revisions, model updates, and project amendments for audit and future reference.
* Manage digital archiving of completed drawings, models, and related documents in a structured and accessible system.
* Communicate with team leads, engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design-related discrepancies.
* Apply quality control checks to identify drafting, modelling, coordination, and presentation errors before they cause rework or delay.
* Customize CAD tools, workflows, menus, or productivity methods where appropriate to streamline drawing production.
* Support client and stakeholder submissions at different project stages with accurate, coordinated, and well-presented deliverables.
* Coordinate utility pipe network modelling, ROW-related layouts, cross sections, routing plans, and existing utility information.
* Support model-based design reviews and contribute practical solutions to issues identified during coordination.
* Assist with BIM team training, software knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of digital design workflows.
* Handle multiple drawings, models, submissions, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 10 years of MEA or UAE CAD drafting and BIM experience on infrastructure projects.
* At least 3 years of experience in utility pipe network modelling.
* Strong background in wet and dry utilities, infrastructure model preparation, utility layouts, drawing production, and digital coordination.
* Required software experience in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
* Advanced knowledge of Common Data Environment usage and management for model production.
* Experience with Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.
* MicroStation knowledge is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of LOD requirements, BIM workflows, model coordination, and digital design review processes.
* Good knowledge of DEWA, DM, and RTA standards and existing utilities management.
* Experience working to international BIM standards such as ISO 19650 is preferred.
