Role Context
The Senior BIM CAD Technician supports multidisciplinary infrastructure design delivery by creating, updating, coordinating, and controlling CAD drawings and BIM models used for client and stakeholder submissions. The role helps improve design accuracy, clash visibility, model quality, drawing presentation, and project documentation by working closely with BIM managers, design leads, engineers, and discipline teams. Through strong model preparation, issue coordination, drawing review, and digital archiving, this position contributes to smoother infrastructure design approvals and better-controlled utility project delivery in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the CAD and BIM Manager, BIM Lead, engineers, and design leads to support project compliance with approved policies, processes, standards, and delivery timelines.
* Prepare, modify, coordinate, and manage infrastructure CAD drawings and BIM models for wet and dry utilities projects.
* Coordinate with different CAD and BIM teams to confirm design input requirements, identify clashes, and support timely issue resolution.
* Use CAD workstations, CAD resources, BIM tools, and project design information to develop engineering drawings from sketches, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and design inputs.
* Prepare basic arrangements, utility layouts, component details, cross sections, routing plans, and related infrastructure design drawings.
* Support model preparation, clash detection, clash reporting, and clash resolution across multiple infrastructure disciplines.
* Manage BIM-related activities from project start-up through project completion in coordination with design and delivery teams.
* Review drawings for readability, presentation quality, standards compliance, and alignment with company QA and QC processes.
* Create parametric and non-parametric families to support model content requirements and project-specific deliverables.
* Produce schedules, quantity extraction, and model-based data outputs required for project reporting and design review.
* Document design changes, drawing revisions, model updates, and project amendments for audit trail and future reference.
* Manage digital archiving of completed drawings, models, and related project documents using an organized and accessible system.
* Maintain communication with team leads, engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design-related issues, discrepancies, and coordination concerns.
* Apply quality control checks to identify drafting, modelling, coordination, and presentation errors early in the design process.
* Customize CAD tools and workflows where appropriate to improve productivity and streamline design production.
* Support submissions to clients and stakeholders at different project stages, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely completion.
* Coordinate BIM and CAD requirements for utility pipe network modelling, infrastructure layouts, ROW-related drawings, and cross-section preparation.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 10 years of MEA or UAE experience in CAD drafting and BIM for infrastructure projects.
* At least 3 years of experience in utility pipe network modelling.
* Strong experience in wet and dry utilities projects, infrastructure model preparation, utility layouts, and drawing production.
* Software experience in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks is required.
* Advanced knowledge of Common Data Environment usage and management for model production.
* Experience with Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.
* MicroStation software knowledge is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of LOD requirements, BIM processes, model coordination, and design review workflows.
* Good understanding of DEWA, DM, and RTA standards and existing utilities management.
* Experience working to international BIM standards such as ISO 19650 is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of infrastructure wet and dry utilities model preparation and layout development.
* Experience with clash detection, issue management, model-based review, and multidisciplinary coordination.
