Role Summary
The Senior Drainage Engineer - Stormwater Design is responsible for leading complex drainage design and hydraulic modeling for infrastructure projects in Dubai, UAE. The role supports project success by ensuring efficient stormwater systems, regulatory compliance, and high-quality engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead civil and transport infrastructure drainage design activities
* Perform detailed hydrological and hydraulic analysis and model validation
* Design stormwater systems including piped networks and cross drainage structures
* Develop hydraulic solutions tailored to complex project environments
* Apply sustainable drainage principles and water-sensitive design practices
* Deliver innovative engineering solutions to optimize performance and cost
* Supervise and mentor junior engineers within the design team
* Prepare detailed design reports, calculations, and technical documentation
* Coordinate with BIM, CAD, and 3D modeling teams for project delivery
* Manage design approvals and maintain strong client coordination
* Ensure accuracy and quality of drawings, models, and engineering outputs
* Lead project responsibilities with a focus on timelines and technical excellence
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Hydrology
* Minimum 12 years of experience in water engineering and drainage design
* At least 6 years of UAE or GCC experience with Dubai Municipality standards
* Strong expertise in hydrology and hydraulic engineering principles
* Experience with modeling tools such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS
* Mandatory experience with Infoworks ICM including 1D and 2D modeling
* Proficiency in GIS and CAD tools including ArcMap, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microstation
* Ability to independently design stormwater networks and hydraulic systems
* Strong technical reporting and documentation capabilities
* Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems and SuDS principles
