Role Context
The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide site-based technical oversight for electrical works forming part of road, bridge, underpass, and associated infrastructure construction. The position sits at the intersection of design compliance, field execution, quality assurance, authority coordination, and commissioning.
A key objective is to identify technical or interface problems before they cause rework or programme delays. The engineer will verify installations against approved documents, coordinate electrical interfaces with structural and civil works, and help ensure completed systems are safe, compliant, tested, and ready for handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise electrical construction activities across roads, bridges, underpasses, and related infrastructure.
* Inspect street lighting systems, feeder pillars, LV cable networks, lighting controls, and architectural or feature lighting installations.
* Verify that electrical works comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, project requirements, and applicable authority standards.
* Develop and implement electrical inspection and testing procedures in accordance with the approved project quality plan.
* Review electrical shop drawings before execution and identify coordination or compliance concerns.
* Evaluate material submittals and confirm proposed products meet project specifications and technical requirements.
* Review contractor method statements and Inspection and Test Plans for electrical activities.
* Witness electrical testing, commissioning, and energization activities and verify recorded results.
* Monitor integration of electrical installations with bridge structures to maintain safety, accessibility, durability, and constructability.
* Coordinate with DEWA regarding electrical supply connections, inspections, NOCs, and other required approvals.
* Liaise with utility providers, authorities, and service agencies to resolve technical and approval-related issues.
* Participate in stakeholder meetings covering utility diversions, protection works, service interfaces, and infrastructure integration.
* Coordinate electrical works with civil, structural, and mechanical engineering teams.
* Align electrical construction sequencing with road, bridge, structural, and other civil works programmes.
* Work with the design team on technical queries, design clarifications, material reviews, and necessary modifications.
* Review field conditions and highlight potential conflicts between approved design information and actual construction requirements.
* Maintain accurate inspection, testing, progress, and technical records.
* Provide electrical engineering inputs for daily and weekly construction progress reports.
* Highlight delays, emerging technical risks, non-compliance, and corrective actions to project leadership.
* Support preparation and closure of punch lists for electrical installations.
* Review electrical documentation required for testing, commissioning, completion, and final handover.
* Guide electrical inspectors and promote consistent inspection and quality-control practices across the site.
* Investigate construction issues and recommend technically practical solutions that minimize delay and rework.
* Maintain strong awareness of HSE requirements during electrical construction and energization activities.
* Report unsafe conditions and reinforce safe working practices across supervised electrical works.
Ideal Profile
The position requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering together with at least eight years of relevant UAE experience in comparable electrical engineering roles.
Candidates should have proven involvement in roads and infrastructure projects, with practical knowledge of construction supervision rather than design experience alone. Strong exposure to street lighting, LV distribution, feeder pillars, electrical controls, testing, commissioning, and infrastructure interfaces is particularly important.
