Position Overview
As a Senior Resident Engineer (Rail – Tunnel and Underground Stations), you will direct site supervision of all tunneling and station works, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and compliance with safety standards. You’ll manage a multidisciplinary team including engineers, inspectors, and surveyors, and liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives. This role demands advanced project coordination, contract administration, and technical review skills in a fast-paced metro rail construction environment.
Core Duties
* Lead on-site supervision for tunneling and underground metro station construction
* Coordinate with other REs to ensure discipline integration and construction continuity
* Review shop drawings, method statements, design clarifications, and RFIs related to tunnels
* Supervise field engineers, inspectors, and surveyors to ensure quality and technical accuracy
* Monitor construction progress, validate completed work, and oversee project reporting
* Interface with client, PMC, contractors, and authorities for approvals and compliance
* Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, quality benchmarks, and NOC coordination
* Participate in site meetings, safety briefings, and contract administration
* Oversee the development of accurate ‘as-built’ documentation and testing protocols
* Provide detailed technical input and resolution to construction challenges on-site
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering
* Minimum 20 years of post-graduate experience in complex rail, metro, and underground station projects
* Prior experience in tunnel supervision and infrastructure delivery within the Gulf region is essential
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or PE license is highly desirable
* Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, technical specifications, and statistical quality control
* Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
* Proficient in project reporting, document control, and construction-related software
* Strong leadership, communication, and coordination capabilities across stakeholders
