Role Context
The Senior Structural Engineer will provide senior technical and construction supervision support across bridge, viaduct, and related infrastructure works in Dubai. Working directly with the Resident Engineer, the role will help coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities, resolve technical issues, and maintain control over quality, safety, records, progress, and handover requirements.
The position requires strong structural engineering judgment together with practical site supervision experience. Accurate review of shop drawings, method statements, materials, testing results, and as-built information will help reduce construction risk and support reliable project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising bridge, viaduct, road, and associated structural construction works.
* Coordinate daily activities with engineers, inspectors, surveyors, and other members of the construction supervision team.
* Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and technical submissions related to structural works.
* Prepare technical comments and responses for review and approval by the Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with Parsons design engineers to resolve structural design and construction issues.
* Maintain accurate daily diaries and review inspection reports prepared by site teams.
* Coordinate with contractor engineers regarding construction schedules, sequencing, and resource deployment.
* Direct and monitor inspectors and surveyors assigned to structural work packages.
* Chair coordination meetings with service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders when required.
* Ensure project records remain accurate, complete, and traceable.
* Monitor implementation of project safety procedures and support achievement of health and safety objectives.
* Participate actively in site safety coordination with the Resident Engineer and safety representatives.
* Prepare and contribute to weekly and monthly progress reports.
* Provide technical direction on site and assist with preparation of formal site instructions.
* Check and measure completed work and support comparison of actual progress against programmed activities.
* Review material submissions and confirm their suitability against project requirements.
* Analyze laboratory reports, technical test results, and quality documentation.
* Support acceptance sampling plans and verify that required testing has been completed.
* Ensure structural works comply with approved specifications, drawings, codes, and quality standards.
* Review as-built drawings for correctness and completeness.
* Maintain supporting as-built records throughout project execution.
* Coordinate handover of structural works to relevant service authorities.
* Assist contractors with obtaining required final approvals and clearances.
* Identify construction risks or technical conflicts and coordinate timely solutions with the wider project team.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience is required, with strong construction supervision exposure involving bridges, viaducts, roads, and major infrastructure projects.
Candidates should be capable of reviewing and justifying material submissions, interpreting laboratory and technical reports, evaluating acceptance sampling plans, and confirming that testing and quality measures comply with project specifications.
Strong knowledge of bridge and structural construction methods, engineering standards, technical documentation, and site supervision procedures is essential.
The successful candidate should be fully computer literate and comfortable using project-specific engineering and construction software to access information, maintain records, and produce reports.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are required, together with strong technical writing capability.
RTA approval is an advantage.
Experience supervising major bridge and infrastructure projects within the Gulf region is preferred, while engineering consultancy experience in the UAE or GCC will be particularly valuable.
