Role Context
The Smart Cities Specialist - Digital Advisory will support Parsons by leading consultancy and advisory work that connects emerging technologies with practical urban outcomes. The role focuses on developing smart city strategies, digital roadmaps, AI-enabled concepts, advanced mobility solutions, IoT use cases, data platforms, and technology-driven proposals while working closely with master planning, transport, landscape, sustainability, environment, and asset management teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage end-to-end delivery of smart city, digital transformation, and urban technology consultancy projects across the Middle East.
* Define project scope, workplans, schedules, resources, deliverables, and coordination requirements for advisory assignments.
* Produce high-quality strategies, roadmaps, technical reports, concept designs, presentations, and client-facing deliverables.
* Advise clients on smart city ambitions, digital transformation priorities, technology use cases, and implementation-ready urban solutions.
* Shape practical strategies using real-world understanding of smart city technologies and digital infrastructure deployment.
* Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
* Lead the preparation of structured proposals that communicate technology-driven solutions, delivery approaches, benefits, and value propositions.
* Develop smart city and digital solution concepts across AI, IoT, advanced mobility, digital twin, geospatial systems, ICT infrastructure, and data platforms.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams to embed smart city solutions into master planning, mobility, transport, landscape, sustainability, environment, and asset management projects.
* Coordinate internal resources, technical specialists, and project contributors to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
* Support technical workshops, client presentations, stakeholder discussions, and design coordination sessions.
* Apply analytical and lateral thinking to solve complex urban technology, infrastructure, and operational challenges.
* Research emerging technologies, digital trends, smart city benchmarks, and implementation models relevant to regional projects.
* Review engineering and system architecture drawings where required to support coordinated digital solution planning.
* Use data visualization, dashboards, and reporting tools to support decision-making, project communication, and digital strategy development.
* Take ownership of assigned project activities and progress toward leading full project delivery independently.
Ideal Profile
* Technical degree from an accredited program involving technology, digital solutions, engineering, or a related discipline.
* More than 10 years of experience in a consultancy or engineering environment.
* Specialist knowledge in one or more areas such as AI, geospatial solutions, digital twin, advanced mobility, or ICT infrastructure.
* Familiarity with real-world implementation of smart city and digital solutions.
* Strong understanding of how digital technologies can be applied in urban, infrastructure, mobility, and public realm projects.
* Ability to provide practical, implementation-aware input within multidisciplinary design teams.
* Strong analytical thinking, lateral problem-solving ability, and interest in complex urban challenges.
* Passion for technology, innovation, and current digital trends.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English.
* Ability to show initiative, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of issues until completion.
* Self-starter with the ability to research, structure, and complete tasks with limited supervision.
* Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI will be an advantage.
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and system architecture drawings will be beneficial.
* Confident working in a fast-paced consultancy environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
* Arabic language skills will be a strong advantage for regional client engagement.
