Role Context
The Structural Engineer will support construction supervision for major roads, bridges, viaducts, underpasses, and associated infrastructure works in Dubai. Working directly with the Resident Engineer, the role will provide technical oversight across structural construction activities while coordinating closely with contractors, inspectors, surveyors, service authorities, and design teams.
The position combines site supervision with technical review, reporting, quality verification, safety oversight, and project coordination. Accurate inspection, timely resolution of structural issues, and disciplined record keeping will help maintain construction quality, reduce rework, and support successful handover of completed works.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising construction of bridges, viaducts, underpasses, and associated structural works.
* Coordinate daily activities with engineers, inspectors, surveyors, and other members of the construction supervision team.
* Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and technical submissions related to structural works.
* Prepare technical responses and recommendations for review by the Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with Parsons design engineers to resolve structural design and construction issues.
* Maintain accurate daily site diaries and review daily inspection reports.
* Coordinate with contractor engineers regarding construction schedules, resource allocation, and planned activities.
* Direct and monitor inspectors and surveyors assigned to structural work packages.
* Convene and chair coordination meetings with service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders when required.
* Maintain complete and accurate construction records.
* Monitor site safety and support implementation of approved health and safety procedures.
* Participate actively in safety discussions and coordinate with project safety representatives.
* Prepare and contribute to weekly and monthly progress reports.
* Provide on-site technical direction and support the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions.
* Monitor construction progress and compare completed work against approved schedules.
* Check and measure completed structural works within the assigned scope.
* Review material submissions and verify compliance with project specifications.
* Analyze laboratory reports, technical reports, test results, and quality documentation.
* Support acceptance sampling plans and construction quality verification activities.
* Confirm that testing and inspection requirements are completed before work acceptance.
* Ensure as-built drawings are accurate, complete, and consistent with completed construction.
* Maintain as-built records and other documentation required for project closeout.
* Coordinate structural handover activities with relevant service authorities.
* Assist contractors in obtaining final clearances and completing outstanding authority requirements.
* Identify construction issues early and coordinate practical solutions with the Resident Engineer and project team.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
A minimum of 10 years of construction supervision experience involving bridges, viaducts, underpasses, and major infrastructure works is required.
Candidates should be capable of reviewing and justifying material submissions, interpreting laboratory and technical reports, and assessing testing and quality control requirements against project specifications.
Strong technical knowledge of structural construction methods, bridge works, civil engineering standards, and construction supervision procedures is essential.
Experience supervising inspectors, surveyors, contractors, and subcontractors will be highly valuable.
Candidates should be fully computer literate and comfortable using project-specific engineering and construction software for accessing data, maintaining records, and producing technical reports.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are required, together with strong technical writing capability.
Experience with major bridges and infrastructure projects in the Gulf region is preferred.
Previous engineering consultancy experience within the UAE or GCC will be an advantage.
