Key Responsibilities
* Inspect structural construction works to confirm compliance with contract specifications, approved drawings, project requirements, and quality standards.
* Monitor demolition works and structural activities related to reservoirs, lifting stations, landscaping structures, lagoons, swimming pools, substations, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges, and related civil assets.
* Verify that only approved materials are incorporated into the works and that supporting compliance documents are properly collected and filed.
* Maintain project records, office files, quantity calculations, daily diaries, inspection notes, and site documentation.
* Prepare daily reports and other contract-required documentation in a clear and timely manner.
* Review installed quantities to support progress payment checks, payment applications, and change order work verification.
* Maintain as-built plans and support accurate tracking of completed structural works.
* Conduct labor compliance interviews where required and maintain related project records.
* Collect and review Certificates of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets, inspection tags, and other material-related documents.
* Identify potential conflicts, construction issues, unsafe conditions, and nonconformance matters, then advise supervisors on possible corrective actions.
* Coordinate with subconsultants for surveying, material testing, and technical inspection support.
* Assist in preparing job safety practices, quality control procedures, inspection reports, and site safety documentation.
* Respond to emergency call backs at the project site when required.
* Document nonconforming work and support the process of determining suitable corrective or preventive actions.
* Provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors when required.
* Carry out inspection work safely while remaining aware of public safety, site hazards, and project-specific safety requirements.
* Perform other inspection and structural supervision duties connected to the project as required.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate has strong structural inspection experience within the region, practical knowledge of public works contracts, and the ability to read drawings, review specifications, maintain diaries, and report construction progress accurately. This role requires a reliable site professional who can recognize technical issues early, communicate clearly with project teams, and maintain disciplined inspection records.
* Diploma or Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of work experience as a Structural Inspector within the region.
* Knowledge of public works contracts, structural construction activities, and construction-related processes.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
* Effective math skills, including understanding of engineering calculations, graphs, charts, quantities, and measurement records.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management software, and internet-based research tools.
* Ability to understand and comply with project requirements based on client standards and industry standards.
* Strong diary writing, daily reporting, and site documentation skills.
* Good knowledge of English grammar, composition, written communication, and verbal communication.
* Understanding of construction scheduling, progress tracking, payment estimates, and extra work bills.
* Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and take appropriate action to reduce risk.
* Effective time management skills with the ability to prepare proactively for assigned inspection duties.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well in a team-based project environment.
* Authority certification or approvals in a related field and HSE training will be an advantage.
* Construction safety training, including 10 hours of OSHA training, is preferred.
