Role Summary
Structural Inspector in Dubai will support AECOM on civil, structural, bridge, and roads projects by inspecting site works, monitoring contractor compliance, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring construction activities follow approved drawings, specifications, quality procedures, contract documents, and health and safety requirements. This role is suitable for a Civil Engineering professional with UAE site supervision experience, strong inspection skills, and practical knowledge of structural and roads construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Review project contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, health and safety requirements, and related project updates.
* Ensure contractor works comply with approved standards, specifications, drawings, quality procedures, and contract requirements.
* Maintain daily records of contractor manpower, equipment, site resources, material deliveries, and work progress.
* Carry out site supervision and inspections as required or instructed by the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer.
* Liaise with the contractor on a daily basis to follow up on resources, site progress, health and safety compliance, and equipment requirements.
* Prepare daily reports for the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer covering work orders, inspections, material delivery, site observations, and planned activities.
* Follow up and implement site instructions issued by the Resident Engineer and Structural Engineer.
* Apply site quality control procedures and support consistent compliance with project QA and QC requirements.
* Prepare site measurements and surveying checks required for bridge works and associated structural elements.
* Coordinate with the client project manager during site inspections in the presence of the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer.
* Monitor contractor QA and QC activities and maintain complete supporting records.
* Assist the Resident Engineer and Structural Engineer in preparing correspondence in line with contract documents and site requirements.
* Identify site problems, report them promptly, and work with the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer to support timely resolution.
* Monitor start-up, commissioning, and handover activities for site works and maintain records of project milestones.
* Maintain records of material tests, completed works, inspection results, and site verification activities.
* Audit inspections for conformity with contract documents, approved drawings, specifications, and contractor submitted plans.
* Support inspection of structural and roads works to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality construction delivery.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 7 years of experience on similar civil, structural, roads, or infrastructure projects.
* Minimum 3 years of UAE experience is required.
* UAE project experience is mandatory.
* Relevant experience in comparable structural and roads projects.
* Experience in bridge works, associated structures, site inspections, quality control, and contractor monitoring.
* RTA approval is preferred.
* Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contract documents, site inspection procedures, and HSE standards.
* Ability to maintain accurate daily records, inspection reports, material test records, and site progress documentation.
* Practical knowledge of QA and QC activities, non-conformance tracking, corrective actions, and inspection audits.
* Ability to coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers, Structural Engineers, surveyors, client representatives, and project teams.
* Strong communication, reporting, observation, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work on active construction sites while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards.
