Role Context
The Structural Inspector - Roads and Bridges will support the supervision of bridge structures, roadworks, and associated civil construction activities across a major infrastructure project in Dubai. The role helps protect project quality by inspecting site works, checking contractor compliance, recording daily resources, supporting measurement verification, monitoring QA/QC activities, and reporting issues to the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer. The position requires practical site judgment, strong documentation habits, and the ability to identify defects, deviations, or safety concerns before they affect project progress or handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and understand contract documents, approved drawings, structural details, specifications, method statements, and health and safety requirements.
* Inspect road and bridge construction works to ensure activities are executed according to project specifications, approved drawings, authority standards, and quality procedures.
* Verify contractor compliance with contract requirements, site instructions, construction standards, and approved work methods.
* Maintain accurate daily records of contractor manpower, equipment, materials, site activities, work locations, inspections, and progress status.
* Carry out site supervision and inspections as instructed by the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer.
* Follow up with contractors on daily work planning, resource deployment, safety controls, equipment readiness, and construction quality.
* Prepare daily inspection reports covering work orders, material deliveries, inspection programs, site progress, quality concerns, and pending actions.
* Implement site instructions issued by the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer and confirm that required corrective actions are completed.
* Apply project quality controls and site quality procedures during inspections, observations, measurements, and documentation.
* Prepare site measurements and surveying checks required for bridge works, road structures, and related civil elements.
* Coordinate with the client project manager during site inspections in the presence of the Resident Engineer or Structural Engineer.
* Monitor contractor QA/QC activities and maintain supporting records for inspections, material testing, approvals, and executed works.
* Assist the Structural Engineer and Resident Engineer in preparing correspondence related to site issues, contract compliance, quality concerns, and contractor performance.
* Work with the supervision team to resolve site problems quickly and reduce delays, rework, or construction conflicts.
* Monitor start-up, commissioning, handover activities, and project milestone records for structural and associated site works.
* Maintain complete records of material tests, inspection results, executed works, site observations, and quality documentation.
* Conduct audit inspections to verify conformity with contract documents, approved contractor plans, specifications, and project quality requirements.
* Report non-compliant works, poor workmanship, unsafe practices, and construction deviations for timely review and corrective action.
* Support close coordination between roads, bridge structures, utilities, drainage, traffic staging, materials teams, and other project disciplines.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in structural inspection, roadworks inspection, bridge construction supervision, or comparable infrastructure projects.
* Minimum 3 years of UAE project experience.
* Relevant experience in roads, bridges, structural works, and major civil infrastructure projects.
* RTA approval is preferred.
* Good understanding of contract documents, technical drawings, specifications, QA/QC procedures, and site inspection requirements.
* Practical experience monitoring contractor activities, construction resources, quality records, safety controls, and daily progress.
* Ability to perform site measurements, surveying checks, inspection verification, and construction documentation for bridge and structural works.
* Familiarity with UAE construction practices, Dubai infrastructure standards, and transportation project requirements.
* Strong reporting skills with the ability to prepare daily reports, inspection notes, material test records, and quality documentation.
* Ability to coordinate professionally with contractors, engineers, client representatives, supervision teams, and site personnel.
* Strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability, and commitment to safe, compliant, and high-quality construction delivery.
