Key Responsibilities
* Inspect the manufacture of precast tunnel segments against approved shop drawings and technical specifications.
* Monitor reinforcement placement, formwork preparation, embedded items, concrete pouring, curing, demoulding, and finishing.
* Confirm that materials, workmanship, equipment, and production methods meet approved project requirements.
* Review method statements, inspection and test plans, material approvals, and related contractor submissions.
* Witness concrete sampling, dimensional checks, material tests, and other required quality activities.
* Verify concrete mix information and confirm compliance with specified strength and durability criteria.
* Monitor curing schedules, temperatures, durations, and protection methods.
* Examine completed segments for cracks, honeycombing, dimensional deviations, surface defects, and damaged edges.
* Ensure each segment remains correctly identified and traceable throughout production and storage.
* Check lifting, handling, stacking, storage, and transportation arrangements to prevent damage.
* Coordinate with the contractor\'s quality-control team and confirm implementation of approved procedures.
* Record non-conforming work and monitor corrective actions through satisfactory closure.
* Participate in factory acceptance tests and additional quality inspections when required.
* Assist with reviewing precast-related shop drawings and technical submissions.
* Liaise with the Resident Engineer and project stakeholders to resolve production concerns.
* Maintain inspection records, test results, production logs, and progress documentation.
* Prepare daily and weekly reports covering output, quality findings, corrective actions, and safety observations.
* Verify the accuracy and completeness of as-built records for manufactured tunnel segments.
* Observe health and safety compliance throughout the precast yard and report unsafe conditions.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a diploma or bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution. At least eight years of construction supervision experience is required, including three years focused on tunnel segments or comparable precast production.
A thorough understanding of reinforcement, formwork systems, concrete mix designs, casting, curing, finishing, and material testing is essential. Applicants must also understand quality assurance and quality control procedures and be able to interpret inspection plans, specifications, shop drawings, and technical reports.
Experience on metro rail, major tunnelling, or other large infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Previous work in the United Arab Emirates or wider Gulf region and familiarity with applicable local standards will be advantageous.
