Role Context
The Viaduct Inspector will be responsible for reviewing site conditions, monitoring construction activities, inspecting structural elements, and confirming that viaduct works meet the required design and safety standards. This position has direct impact on the quality, durability, and operational readiness of metro rail infrastructure in Dubai.
The role requires practical site judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify construction issues before they affect programme, safety, or compliance. It also involves maintaining inspection records, supporting as-built reviews, assisting with completed works inspection, and coordinating with the Resident Engineer and safety teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect site conditions to confirm suitability for the designed permanent works before and during construction.
* Conduct regular inspections of viaduct construction activities to assess workmanship, material quality, and compliance with approved plans.
* Review structural components such as beams, columns, supports, and related viaduct elements to ensure alignment with engineering and safety requirements.
* Supervise assigned construction activities and identify delays, deviations, or quality concerns that may affect the project schedule.
* Check temporary works and construction methods to ensure they comply with approved method statements and contract requirements.
* Examine construction materials and installation practices against project specifications, quality standards, and inspection procedures.
* Verify that safety protocols are followed on site to protect workers, project teams, and the public.
* Study construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to understand project requirements and highlight potential site challenges.
* Maintain accurate inspection reports, site records, work execution notes, and supporting documentation.
* Direct inspection staff where required and help ensure consistent performance across assigned inspection activities.
* Assist with measurement of completed works when requested by the Resident Engineer or project team.
* Support the review of installation drawings, as-built drawings, and related construction documentation.
* Inspect completed works, prepare snag lists, and assist with handover to the operating authority.
* Participate positively in health and safety matters as required by the Resident Engineer and project Safety Representative.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with at least 4 years of related construction supervision experience.
* Diploma in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with at least 7 years of related construction supervision experience may also be considered.
* Previous experience in construction inspection or supervision for infrastructure projects such as bridges, viaducts, elevated structures, or major civil works.
* Metro rail project experience is highly preferred.
* UAE, Dubai, or GCC experience with an engineering consulting firm will be an advantage.
* Strong understanding of site inspection procedures, structural construction practices, approved methods, and contract requirements.
* Ability to inspect permanent and temporary works with attention to safety, quality, and technical compliance.
* Comfortable using inspection tools, surveying equipment, project management systems, and construction-related software.
* Good knowledge of construction documentation, inspection records, installation drawings, and as-built drawing review.
* Clear oral and written communication skills for coordination with engineers, contractors, management teams, and site staff.
* Strong commitment to safe work practices and active participation in site safety requirements.
