Role Context
This role will influence how Amazon purchases
The position has responsibility for supplier capability, commercial competitiveness, continuity of supply, framework agreements, and procurement innovation. Effective category leadership will improve project economics, reduce delivery risk, and support Amazon\'s environmental commitments across the region.
Key Responsibilities
The manager will oversee strategic category development while remaining closely involved in individual tenders and supplier decisions.
* Develop and execute regional sourcing strategies for construction categories across AMET
* Manage procurement across general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and original equipment manufacturers
* Evaluate civil, architectural, interior fit-out, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection requirements
* Lead supplier prequalification, onboarding, tendering, commercial evaluation, negotiation, and award recommendations
* Assess technical and commercial proposals for accuracy, capability, value, and project risk
* Protect continuity of supply across countries, business units, and construction workstreams
* Identify category synergies, economies of scale, benchmarking opportunities, and avoidable expenditure
* Deliver cost improvements through negotiation, standardization, value engineering, and supply chain optimization
* Negotiate and manage framework agreements with strategic construction partners
* Build productive relationships with suppliers and take ownership of key supplier performance
* Partner with Design and Construction, Real Estate, Legal, Finance, and project delivery teams
* Collaborate with technical stakeholders to improve specifications and sourcing outcomes
* Support supplier performance reviews alongside Design and Construction partners
* Produce market intelligence covering pricing, capacity, commercial risk, and industry trends
* Prepare high-quality decision papers and procurement recommendations for senior leadership
* Anticipate objections, reconcile differing stakeholder views, and secure approval for recommended strategies
* Track category goals and identify additional opportunities for measurable value creation
* Automate procurement tools and improve processes throughout the purchasing lifecycle
* Support sustainable sourcing initiatives aligned with Amazon\'s Climate Pledge
* Manage several procurement projects simultaneously while meeting demanding schedules
Ideal Profile
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor\'s degree and bring practical experience in supply chain, program management, project management, or construction procurement. Strong knowledge of construction trades and contracting structures is important, particularly across civil works, architectural packages, fit-out, building services, and fire protection.
Candidates should be capable of working across technical and non-technical teams, defining program requirements, and improving processes through data and metrics. Experience managing end-to-end delivery, influencing senior leadership, and coordinating stakeholders at different organizational levels is preferred.
