Position Overview
Mace is seeking a highly experienced Design Director to lead the delivery of design management for a landmark high-rise project in Dubai. This role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and hands-on expertise in implementing design systems, managing multidisciplinary teams, and driving innovation to meet high-quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

What You’ll Do
* Lead the design management function to deliver strategic outcomes and KPIs aligned with client and business objectives.
* Oversee implementation of design management systems ensuring statutory, legal, and contractual compliance.
* Build and lead internal and external design teams, ensuring resource allocation and clear deliverables.
* Engage with clients and senior stakeholders to influence strategy and ensure successful project delivery.
* Direct recruitment, mentoring, and development of design team members to foster a culture of excellence.
* Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and best practices across projects.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators and project progress for senior leadership.
* Ensure adherence to sustainability and net-zero carbon objectives throughout project delivery.
* Manage consultant appointments and contractual processes across work streams.
* Support business development initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
* Oversee use of BIM and digital tools for effective design coordination and delivery.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field; professional membership (RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT) preferred.
* Proven experience managing large-scale high-rise projects, including external public areas.
* Expertise in design workflows, scheduling, and budget management.
* Strong understanding of design risk management, prefabrication strategies, and construction processes.
* Skilled in stakeholder management and capable of influencing senior leadership decisions.
* Hands-on experience with BIM for design and delivery.
* Previous experience working in the UAE is essential for client approval.
