Mace is looking for an experienced Design Director to lead strategic design management for one of Saudi Arabia’s largest and most ambitious programmes. This project involves a major mixed-use development featuring sports facilities, entertainment venues, arts districts, and supporting infrastructure. As a key leader, you will oversee all aspects of design strategy, governance, and delivery while managing integrated teams and maintaining strong client relationships.

What You’ll Do
* Define and oversee strategic design management across multiple large-scale projects.
* Develop and deliver annual business plans, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality objectives.
* Approve consultant appointments and manage contracts across design workstreams.
* Build and lead internal
and external design teams, ensuring clear deliverables and resource allocation.
* Act as the operational lead for deployed design managers and oversee day-to-day activities.
* Present KPIs and progress reports to senior leadership, driving informed decision-making.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and influence senior clients to achieve project goals.
* Implement best practices, lessons learned, and process improvements to deliver exceptional outcomes.
* Support business development and contribute to work-winning strategies.
* Ensure compliance with design management systems and project governance requirements.
* Lead the integration of digital design processes, including BIM standards (ISO19650, BS1192, CDE, IFC, COBie).
* Champion sustainability and net-zero carbon goals by embedding environmental considerations in design solutions.
Ideal Profile
* Degree in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.
* Proven leadership experience on high-value mixed-use developments within the Middle East.
* Strong knowledge of ISO19650 standards, BIM workflows, and digital delivery tools.
* Expertise in managing multi-disciplinary design teams and large-scale project portfolios.
* Ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders across multiple organizations.
* Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC preferred; eligibility for KSA work visa required.
