Role Context
The Design Manager will support the Planning and Design Management function by controlling the flow
A central responsibility will be maintaining visibility over interfaces, design actions, approval dependencies, technical risks, and unresolved issues. Effective coordination at this level will help reduce redesign, prevent conflicting technical requirements, protect project milestones, and improve the quality of information released to downstream delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage multidisciplinary design coordination across assigned infrastructure projects, packages, and asset scopes.
* Support senior management and the Senior Design Manager with daily design delivery activities.
* Coordinate consultant teams to maintain alignment between technical disciplines and project requirements.
* Review consultant submissions before formal approval for quality, completeness, consistency, and coordination.
* Verify design deliverables against approved briefs, standards, scope requirements, and project objectives.
* Monitor design development through concept, intermediate, detailed, and relevant stage-gate milestones.
* Track consultant performance against scheduled submission and review dates.
* Maintain awareness of design activities that may affect procurement, construction, or project delivery.
* Coordinate interfaces between engineering disciplines, infrastructure systems, assets, and delivery packages.
* Identify technical gaps and cross-disciplinary conflicts before they affect later project stages.
* Support resolution of design clashes between different consultant and discipline outputs.
* Coordinate technical responses to design queries, clarification requests, and unresolved design comments.
* Facilitate constructability discussions where proposed designs may create delivery constraints.
* Engage relevant technical specialists when additional design assurance is required.
* Maintain design trackers, registers, action logs, comment schedules, and approval records.
* Ensure actions arising from technical reviews are assigned to responsible parties and tracked through closure.

* Support the integration of design changes across affected packages and disciplines.

Ideal Profile
