Role Context
The
Interface Lead will provide structured coordination across the boundaries where project disciplines, contracts, systems, construction packages, and operational requirements meet. The role will maintain visibility over interface ownership, technical inputs, dependencies, required dates, approvals, and closure actions while helping prevent design conflicts, construction delays, duplicated scope, missing responsibilities, and rework. Strong interface governance will be essential across airport, infrastructure, utilities, systems integration, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead daily interface management activities across assigned project areas, work packages, systems, and stakeholder groups.
* Develop, implement, and maintain the Interface Management Plan, procedures, workflows, governance requirements, and reporting structure.
* Establish and maintain the Interface Register and Interface Control Documents.
* Identify, document, classify, prioritize, and monitor technical and non-technical project interfaces.
* Coordinate interfaces across Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, Quality, HSE, Planning, Commercial, and Operations.
* Manage multidisciplinary interfaces involving Civil, Structural, MEP, ICT, ELV, Utilities, Roads, Airfield, Fire and Life Safety, and specialist systems.
* Coordinate package-to-package interfaces between multiple contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and delivery teams.
* Identify boundaries between new works, existing infrastructure, operational assets, and temporary facilities.
* Coordinate airside, landside, airport operational, and restricted-area interfaces where applicable.
* Identify interface requirements early enough to prevent design, procurement, construction, or commissioning delays.
* Develop and maintain Interface Responsibility Matrices showing ownership and accountability.
* Define required inputs, outputs, deliverables, responsibilities, dates, dependencies, and acceptance criteria for each interface.
* Coordinate technical information exchange between interfacing parties.
* Lead interface workshops and structured coordination meetings.
* Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, decision records, interface trackers, and follow-up actions.
* Monitor open interface actions and drive timely closure.
* Escalate critical, overdue, or unresolved matters to Project Management.
* Coordinate resolution of design clashes, technical discrepancies, scope gaps, overlapping responsibilities, and physical interface conflicts.
* Review drawings, specifications, contracts, technical submissions, and project documentation for interface requirements.
* Coordinate with BIM and Digital Engineering teams to identify and resolve spatial clashes and multidisciplinary conflicts.
* Support design coordination and constructability reviews where interfaces affect execution.
* Review interface requirements associated with temporary works, logistics, access, sequencing, work fronts, and construction constraints.
* Coordinate boundaries between temporary and permanent works.
* Manage interfaces between construction completion, testing, commissioning, systems integration, and handover.
* Coordinate system integration requirements across mechanical, electrical, ICT, ELV, controls, and specialist systems.
* Ensure interface activities are reflected in project schedules and milestone plans.
* Coordinate with Planning and Project Controls teams to monitor interface constraints and deadlines.
* Identify dependencies capable of affecting the critical path or key project milestones.
* Support mitigation, acceleration, and recovery strategies for interface-related delays.
* Coordinate with Commercial and Contracts teams on scope boundaries, contractual responsibilities, variations, and claims.
* Identify potential gaps and overlaps between contracts and work packages.
* Support resolution of interface-related contractual disputes and responsibility conflicts.
* Maintain complete records of interface decisions, agreements, technical resolutions, and approvals.
* Ensure interface agreements are formally documented and communicated to affected stakeholders.
* Monitor implementation of agreed interface requirements throughout design and construction.
* Conduct site walks and physical interface inspections where necessary.
* Coordinate with Quality teams on interface-related inspections, NCRs, observations, and corrective actions.
* Support resolution of RFIs, Technical Queries, NCRs, and site issues involving multiple disciplines or packages.
* Coordinate with HSE teams where interfaces introduce safety, access, logistics, or operational risks.
* Liaise with authorities, utilities, airport operators, and external stakeholders on interface requirements.
* Maintain an Interface Risk Register where required.
* Identify emerging interface risks and establish appropriate mitigation actions.
* Prepare regular interface reports, dashboards, status summaries, and escalation information for Project Management.
* Analyze recurring interface problems and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
* Present interface status, critical risks, and outstanding decisions during project governance meetings.
* Ensure interface information remains properly registered, controlled, traceable, and accessible.
* Confirm closure of outstanding interfaces before sectional completion or final project handover.
* Capture interface lessons learned and incorporate improvements into future project phases.
* Provide technical guidance to engineers, coordinators, and other team members involved in interface management.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in interface management, engineering coordination, construction management, or project delivery.
* Proven experience on major airport, infrastructure, transportation, or large-scale construction projects.
* Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience across engineering, construction, systems, and project management functions.
* Practical experience managing interfaces between contractors, consultants, designers, project teams, and external stakeholders.
* Airport or aviation interface management experience is highly preferred.
* Strong understanding of scope boundaries, project dependencies, design interfaces, and construction sequencing.
