The Mechanical Engineer will provide site-level assurance throughout installation and commissioning. Early identification of defects and interface problems will help prevent delays, protect quality, and ensure that each system is ready for authority approval and reliable operation.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer will supervise vertical-transportation works in accordance with the Parsons construction-supervision scope.
* Monitor the installation of elevators, escalators, moving walks, and related mechanical equipment.
* Verify compliance with approved shop drawings and project specifications.
* Ensure contractor activities follow manufacturer recommendations and applicable standards.
* Review shop drawings, technical submissions, and equipment schedules.
* Assess contractor method statements and installation procedures.
* Review material submittals and confirm suitability for the approved design.
* Evaluate testing, commissioning, and handover plans for vertical-transportation systems.
* Coordinate equipment requirements with architectural, structural, electrical, fire-safety, and MEP disciplines.
* Review interfaces involving shafts, pits, machine rooms, controls, power supplies, and finishes.
* Monitor contractor progress, resources, workmanship, and performance.
* Compare site activities with the approved construction program.
* Highlight delays, constraints, and technical issues affecting installation.
* Witness equipment installation, adjustment, inspection, and functional testing.
* Monitor commissioning and verify compliance with performance requirements.
* Review test results, certificates, and supporting technical records.
* Support authority inspections and final system acceptance.
* Inspect completed works and identify defects or non-conformances.
* Prepare snag lists and follow corrective actions through closure.
* Issue inspection reports, site observations, and progress updates.
* Support the Resident Engineer and Construction Manager in resolving technical concerns.
* Participate in technical meetings, coordination sessions, and progress reviews.
* Verify compliance with quality assurance, quality control, and HSE requirements.
* Maintain alignment with local regulations, manufacturer standards, and SAPL supervision procedures.
* Support final handover and closeout of vertical-transportation packages.
Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate is a mechanical engineer with practical high-rise construction experience and specialist knowledge of vertical-transportation installation.
* Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Minimum eight years of relevant experience on high-rise building projects.
* Strong experience supervising elevators and escalators during construction.
* Practical knowledge of moving walks and related control systems.
* Background in construction supervision, engineering consultancy, project-management consultancy, or site engineering.
* Understanding of vertical-transportation installation procedures.
* Experience witnessing equipment testing and commissioning.
* Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and HSE requirements.
* Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions.
* Familiarity with applicable international standards and local authority regulations.
* Strong coordination and problem-solving capabilities.
* Previous experience on major projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is advantageous.
* Professional engineering registration or membership is preferred.
