Plumbing Engineer
Job Overview:
Al-Futtaim Group is seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer to lead and manage plumbing activities across multiple projects. This role involves overseeing a team of Supervisors and drafting personnel to ensure the successful execution of internal and external plumbing activities. The Plumbing Engineer will be responsible for project management, cost management, engineering coordination, quality assurance, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Validate plumbing designs and technical calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Review project scope of work, specifications, tender clarifications, and value engineering opportunities.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including Main Contractors, Consultants, Clients, and internal departments, to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Plan and manage resource allocation, including materials and labor requirements, to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor daily productivity and progress on-site, taking corrective actions for any deviations from the planned schedule.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship are maintained throughout the installation and construction phases.
- Coordinate with local authorities as required for project approvals and compliance.
Cost Management:
- Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors to capture variation works and delays, ensuring effective claims to increase budgeted project margins.
- Propose value engineering solutions to optimize designs and improve profitability.
- Implement cost control measures to maximize project profitability and minimize expenses.
Engineering Coordination:
- Coordinate with engineers and drafting teams for the submission and approval of shop drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with procurement teams for vendor finalization, material submissions, and approvals of suppliers and equipment.
- Resolve complex technical issues to ensure satisfactory completion of design and construction.
- Coordinate with Electrical and other trades to verify equipment loads and ensure compatibility with project requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
Quality and Standards:
- Apply internal engineering and construction standards, operating procedures, and templates for consistent project delivery.
- Maintain a Lessons Learned register and share technical insights within the organization to promote continuous improvement.
- Develop Method Statements for each activity in line with project specifications.
- Ensure thorough documentation for project closeouts.
Health, Safety & Environment:
- Ensure compliance with Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies HSE Policy.
- Report all personal injuries and incidents, supporting investigations as required.
- Promote a safety-conscious work culture and actively participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
- Ensure completion of Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) as required for all activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
Education:
- Degree in Plumbing Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP contracting companies, with at least 3 years in the UAE.
- Proven experience in project management, plumbing design, and cost management.
Skills:
- Sound knowledge of plumbing engineering design, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficient in project planning, cost management, and resource allocation.
- Experience using project management software (AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
