Role Context
The Project Controls Data
Analyst will connect complex project information with the management decisions required to keep delivery on track. The role will combine business intelligence, project controls, schedule and cost analytics, reporting automation, and data quality management to provide clear visibility of project performance. By integrating information from planning, engineering, procurement, construction, budget, and start-up activities, the analyst will help leadership recognize deviations earlier, understand performance drivers, and make better-informed corrective decisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards for project and portfolio performance reporting.
* Build management views covering schedule, cost, progress, procurement, engineering, construction, and start-up information.
* Convert raw project controls data into clear visual indicators suitable for executive decision-making.
* Automate recurring weekly and monthly project performance reports.
* Establish standardized reporting templates and KPI structures across assigned projects or workstreams.
* Develop executive dashboards highlighting progress, schedule position, cost status, forecasts, trends, and emerging risks.
* Integrate data from multiple project systems and reporting sources into consistent analytical datasets.
* Perform quality checks to identify incomplete, conflicting, duplicated, or unreliable project information.
* Analyze progress trends and highlight deviations from approved project baselines.
* Support Earned Value Management reporting and interpretation.
* Analyze Planned Value, Earned Value, Actual Cost, and related performance indicators where applicable.
* Support assessment of schedule and cost variances.
* Assist with project forecasting by analyzing historical performance, progress trends, and current delivery conditions.
* Identify unfavorable trends before they develop into significant schedule or cost impacts.
* Develop analytical views that help management understand performance across packages, disciplines, contractors, or workstreams.
* Compare actual project performance against approved targets, budgets, milestones, and schedules.
* Work with Planning teams to interpret Primavera P6 schedule information.
* Support reconciliation of schedule progress with reported project performance.
* Analyze milestone achievement and identify areas where progress is falling behind planned expectations.
* Work with Cost and Project Controls personnel to improve integration between financial and schedule reporting.
* Transform complex datasets into concise findings and management recommendations.
* Identify performance patterns, recurring issues, operational risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Conduct data-driven analysis to support project leadership reviews and management meetings.
* Produce ad hoc analytical reports in response to emerging project issues.
* Develop trend charts, variance analyses, performance summaries, and management presentations.
* Create automated data extraction and transformation processes.
* Use SQL to query, organize, and combine project information from structured data sources.
* Apply Python where appropriate to automate repetitive data-processing and reporting activities.
* Improve reporting workflows by reducing manual manipulation of project data.
* Develop reusable scripts, queries, templates, and reporting logic for recurring analysis.
* Support digital transformation initiatives within the Project Controls function.
* Identify opportunities to replace manual reporting with automated dashboards and controlled data pipelines.

* Coordinate with project stakeholders to validate data before management reporting.
* Support technical disciplines by providing accurate performance information and analytical insights.
* Assist with preparation of program and portfolio-level reporting where multiple projects or packages are consolidated.
* Monitor reporting deadlines and ensure required project information is available for management reviews.
* Support development of reporting calendars and structured data submission processes.
* Maintain historical project performance information for trend analysis and future reference.
* Provide analytical support during project reviews, forecasting cycles, and progress meetings.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
* 3-7 years of relevant experience in project controls, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
* Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, engineering, or other major capital projects is preferred.
* Strong practical experience developing Power BI dashboards and management reporting solutions.
* Good understanding of project performance reporting and project controls concepts.
* Familiarity with Earned Value Management and cost and schedule performance analysis.
* Ability to work with complex datasets originating from multiple project functions.
* Practical experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
* Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and its application to project schedule information.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Project is beneficial.
