Position Overview
Azizi Energy, the energy arm of Azizi Group, is seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the successful execution of large-scale power plant projects in Afghanistan and other regional markets. This role is pivotal in driving the company’s vision of expanding energy supply infrastructure, including solar, thermal, and hybrid plants, alongside coal and gas production and distribution assets. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle—from planning and procurement to construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring alignment with strategic goals, compliance with regulatory standards, and delivery within time and budget in challenging, high-impact environments.

What You’ll Do
* Provide strategic direction and leadership for utility-scale power plant projects, managing multiple sites to achieve performance, quality, and schedule targets.
* Lead end-to-end project delivery, from feasibility and planning to commissioning and operational handover.
* Represent Azizi Energy in negotiations and stakeholder engagements with government agencies, EPC contractors, investors, and local communities.
* Manage budgets, project milestones, and operational KPIs, ensuring financial accountability and cost efficiency.
* Oversee compliance with technical specifications, HSE regulations, and environmental standards.
* Identify and mitigate high-level project risks, implementing strategies to address geopolitical, logistical, and operational challenges.
* Produce detailed reports for senior leadership, covering project status, risks, and performance metrics.
* Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary project teams to ensure optimal capacity for project execution.
Ideal Profile
* Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s with extensive experience considered).
* PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
* 15+ years in senior project management or director-level roles in construction or power generation, with at least 7 years in utility-scale energy projects.
* Experience in delivering projects in emerging or post-conflict markets, preferably within the energy sector.
* Strong knowledge of EPC contracts, project financing, and risk management.
* Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Fluency in English; knowledge of Dari, Pashto, or regional languages is an advantage.
* Willingness to work in remote or challenging locations and travel extensively.
