Role Context

This position supports AECOM\'s Buildings and Places business line within its Middle East and Africa operations. The


Project Planner will collaborate with design, construction, operations, risk, cost and project-management teams to develop coordinated schedules. The role covers the complete project lifecycle, from initial planning and budget development through delivery and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop detailed project schedules from first principles.
* Produce Gantt charts using recognized planning software.
* Define activities, milestones and deliverables across the project lifecycle.
* Establish realistic durations with project managers and team leaders.
* Build logical activity sequences and resource assumptions.
* Develop schedule dependencies, leads, lags and float calculations.
* Identify and communicate the project critical path.
* Integrate individual schedules into master program schedules.
* Provide clear portfolio-level visibility of project performance.
* Update schedules according to established reporting cycles.
* Verify the accuracy of schedule information before distribution.
* Conduct critical-path and schedule-risk analyses.
* Review contractor programs for logic and contractual alignment.
* Identify potential delays and recommend mitigation measures.
* Evaluate changes, variations and scope modifications.
* Assess potential impacts on schedules, budgets and program performance.
* Establish and monitor progress-measurement methodologies.
* Apply Earned Value Management where appropriate.
* Prepare project and program performance reports.
* Present scheduling findings to management and senior stakeholders.
* Develop cost-loaded schedules for cash-flow forecasting.
* Support financial planning and budget alignment.
* Facilitate planning workshops and coordination meetings.
* Coordinate design consultants, contractors and internal teams.
* Support project kick-off and pre-construction planning.
* Assess schedule impacts arising from design or methodology changes.
* Coordinate with risk and cost-management professionals.
* Support spend forecasting and proactive mitigation planning.
* Respond to scheduling inquiries and requests for information.
* Analyze scheduling data and validate reported progress.
* Prepare summary documents for program-controls analysis.
* Promote continuous improvement within the planning function.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related technical discipline.
* Equivalent professional planning experience may be considered.
* Minimum five years of project planning and scheduling experience.
* Proven ability to develop schedules from first principles.
* Experience leading planning workshops.
* Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
* Strong critical-path analysis capabilities.
* Experience developing work breakdown structures.
* Ability to optimize schedule logic and activity sequencing.
* Experience integrating multiple schedules into master programs.
* Knowledge of contractor progress measurement and reporting.
* Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
* Experience with large multidisciplinary projects.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Strong organization and competing-priority management abilities.
* Earned Value Management experience is preferred.
* Cost-loaded scheduling experience is advantageous.
* Infrastructure, construction or capital-program experience is preferred.
* Familiarity with schedule-risk and change-impact analysis.
* PMP or an equivalent certification is advantageous.
* Middle East project experience is beneficial.
* Knowledge of resource and capacity planning.
