Role Context
The Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing project costs, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting financial decision-making throughout the construction lifecycle. This role contributes to maintaining profitability, controlling risks, and ensuring transparent commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Measure and price works based on drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities
* Manage post-contract activities including interim payments, final accounts, and variations
* Prepare and review contractual correspondence and commercial documentation
* Advise on contract terms, risks, and compliance requirements
* Monitor contractor performance and resource allocation from a commercial perspective
* Audit contractor payments and ensure accuracy of submitted valuations
* Track project costs and maintain expenditure records
* Prepare variations, claims, and day-work assessments
* Negotiate and finalize claim settlements with contractors
* Prepare monthly financial reports and cost forecasts
* Coordinate with project teams to ensure commercial alignment
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
* Minimum 8-10 years of experience in infrastructure or construction projects
* Strong knowledge of pre and post-contract administration
* Experience handling claims, variations, and contract negotiations
* Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents
* Strong analytical and reporting skills
* Good communication and coordination abilities
