Key Responsibilities
* Assist riggers with day-to-day rigging, slinging and lifting support duties on site.
* Help ensure all loads and equipment are lifted, moved and positioned safely according to work requirements.
* Select appropriate rigging equipment under guidance based on load type, lifting conditions and site instructions.
* Inspect rigging tools and equipment to confirm they are in safe working condition before use.
* Report faulty or unsafe equipment to the rigger or supervisor immediately.
* Move rigging equipment to the work site and return it to the store at the end of the shift.
* Support work at heights and MEWP-related activities while following safety procedures.
* Assist the supervisor, foreman or rigger with monthly color coding of lifting equipment.
* Keep rigging stores clean, tidy and properly arranged for quick access and safe handling.
* Support site housekeeping and ensure work areas remain organized during rigging operations.
* Assess each load with the team and help prepare suitable lifting accessories for the task.
* Work closely with team members to keep lifting operations smooth, safe and on schedule.
Ideal Profile
* Rigging certificate is required.
* Around 3 years of experience as a Rigger Assistant or in a similar lifting support role.
* Grade 10 certification is preferred.
* Red Seal certification is an advantage.
* Good understanding of basic rigging equipment, slinging methods and safe lifting practices.
* Able to identify visible defects in lifting gear and report unsafe equipment without delay.
* Comfortable working at heights and supporting site-based lifting activities.
* Physically fit for outdoor, workshop or construction site conditions.
* Strong teamwork, discipline and safety awareness.
* Able to follow instructions from riggers, supervisors and foremen during active lifting tasks.
