Position Overview
Al-Futtaim Contracting is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead design coordination and delivery across complex construction projects in Dubai. The successful candidate will oversee design planning, approvals, and implementation while ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with project objectives. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and technical expertise in multidisciplinary design coordination within the GCC construction sector.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage the Design Management Plan (DMP), ensuring coordination, compliance, and timely approval of all design deliverables.
* Lead progress and coordination meetings with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical and scheduling issues.
* Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Work closely with commercial and planning teams to evaluate design variations, claims, and extension of time requests.
* Oversee BIM coordination, ensuring all models are current, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
* Monitor design-related HSE risks and support operational teams in implementing safety improvements.
* Review, approve, and release shop drawings, material submittals, and mock-ups in accordance with client and consultant expectations.
* Manage change control processes, documenting all design modifications and ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders.
* Maintain design document control and ensure compliance with the company’s IMS and audit standards.
* Provide mentorship and technical support to junior design and engineering staff.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil, Structural, or MEP Engineering (Architecture preferred).
* 15–20 years of experience in design management with Tier 1 Main Contractors, ideally within the UAE.
* At least 10 years in a senior design management role overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
* Proven experience with BIM-based design processes and coordination.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Skilled in risk assessment, claims management, and compliance with international construction standards.
