Role Context
The Site Engineer - Mechanical MEP Works will supervise day-to-day mechanical construction activities and
coordinate closely with civil, electrical, and other MEP disciplines to maintain efficient project execution. The position requires strong site presence, technical understanding, and the ability to monitor manpower, materials, installation quality, testing, inspections, and progress across HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting packages.
The engineer will serve as a technical link between site teams, subcontractors, consultants, client representatives, QA/QC personnel, and HSE teams while helping ensure mechanical works are completed correctly and within planned project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise mechanical installation activities for HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems across assigned project areas.
* Ensure all work is executed according to approved shop drawings, method statements, project specifications, and technical requirements.
* Review construction drawings and identify technical or coordination issues before installation begins.
* Coordinate mechanical activities with electrical, civil, architectural, and other MEP disciplines to minimize clashes and rework.
* Work closely with subcontractors, supervisors, foremen, and technicians to maintain planned site productivity.
* Monitor daily manpower deployment and confirm resources are adequate for scheduled mechanical activities.
* Track material availability and highlight shortages that could delay installation works.
* Inspect mechanical installations and verify compliance with approved drawings and workmanship standards.
* Coordinate pressure testing for plumbing, firefighting, and associated piping systems.
* Support HVAC testing, balancing, flushing, commissioning, and other system verification activities.
* Prepare work areas for consultant and client inspections and coordinate required approvals.
* Liaise with consultants and client representatives regarding inspections, comments, technical clarifications, and acceptance of completed works.
* Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure installation activities comply with approved inspection and quality procedures.
* Ensure only approved mechanical materials and equipment are installed at site.
* Work with HSE personnel to maintain safe installation, testing, lifting, access, and equipment handling practices.
* Ensure mechanical works comply with applicable local authority regulations and project requirements.
* Monitor daily progress against approved construction schedules and planned work targets.
* Identify installation constraints, clashes, access problems, and sequencing issues and coordinate timely solutions.
* Prepare daily and weekly progress reports covering manpower, installation status, inspections, testing, and outstanding activities.
* Maintain accurate site records, inspection documentation, test reports, approvals, and technical correspondence.
* Support snagging, de-snagging, testing, commissioning, and final handover of completed mechanical systems.
Ideal Profile
Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Candidates should have 3-5 years of professional experience in mechanical MEP construction projects, with practical involvement in HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting installations.
Previous experience working on high-rise residential or commercial developments is preferred.
The successful candidate should be capable of reading and interpreting mechanical shop drawings, coordinated MEP drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
Hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water or air distribution systems, plumbing networks, drainage systems, firefighting piping, pumps, valves, and associated mechanical equipment is valuable.
Experience coordinating pressure testing, inspections, testing and commissioning, consultant approvals, and QA/QC documentation is important.
