Role Context

The Art Teacher - British Curriculum will plan and deliver creative Art lessons that support students in developing visual awareness, practical skills, imagination, cultural appreciation, and personal expression. The role requires strong lesson planning, classroom organization, student engagement, and the ability to work with diverse learners. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive school environment and help students build confidence through drawing, painting, design, mixed media, and other creative forms.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons aligned with British curriculum expectations and school academic standards.
* Inspire students to explore creativity, imagination, visual expression, and artistic confidence.
* Teach a range of art forms including drawing, painting, design, crafts, mixed media, visual composition, and creative techniques.
* Prepare lesson plans, classroom activities, art projects, displays, resources, and assessment tasks that support student learning.
* Create an inclusive, safe, and encouraging classroom environment where students feel confident to express ideas.
* Support students with different artistic abilities, learning styles, and creative interests through differentiated instruction.
* Guide students in understanding color, form, texture, pattern, line, composition, visual culture, and art appreciation.
* Encourage creative thinking, problem-solving, observation skills, self-expression, and reflective learning.
* Assess student work through projects, portfolios, class participation, practical tasks, and formative feedback.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, attainment, attendance, behavior, and classroom performance.
* Organize and support art displays, exhibitions, school events, creative competitions, and student artwork showcases.
* Use educational technology and digital resources where appropriate to enhance visual arts learning.
* Collaborate with teachers, coordinators, and school leadership to support curriculum delivery and student development.
* Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, creativity, and learning needs.
* Maintain classroom materials, art equipment, displays, and resources in an organized and safe manner.
* Follow school policies related to safeguarding, inclusion, assessment, health and safety, classroom management, and student wellbeing.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
* Master’s degree will be preferred.
* Experience teaching Art to diverse student populations.
* Experience in a British curriculum school will be an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of visual arts, creative techniques, classroom projects, and student-centered art education.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage resources, displays, student work, and lesson preparation.
* Passion for art and education with the ability to inspire students and encourage creative confidence.
* Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom atmosphere.
* Professional approach to assessment, student support, academic documentation, and school responsibilities.
