Role Context
The Art Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support students through engaging visual arts lessons that develop creativity, imagination, fine motor skills, visual awareness, and confidence in self-expression. The role contributes to student wellbeing, classroom culture, curriculum delivery, parent communication, and the wider school vision of providing high-quality learning opportunities in an inclusive and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring Art lessons that support student creativity, confidence, and learning progress.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions that meet curriculum expectations and support a range of abilities.
* Organise classroom resources, art materials, displays, and learning areas to create a stimulating creative environment.
* Encourage students to explore drawing, painting, design, craft, visual communication, and creative techniques.
* Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching strategies to motivate learners and promote active participation.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that connect with curriculum goals and student development.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment expectations and learning outcomes.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and future creative learning activities.
* Take responsibility for student progress, classroom engagement, and wellbeing during art learning.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate with parents and carers about student achievement, progress, and wellbeing during school meetings.
* Liaise with support staff or external professionals when required to help students access learning successfully.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and apply suitable classroom strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Promote independence, self-control, respect, creativity, and positive attitudes toward learning.
* Embed Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout classroom practice.
* Contribute to displays, school events, exhibitions, outings, creative activities, and extra-curricular programmes.
* Support curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special events linked to the school community.
* Uphold safeguarding expectations, school policies, professional conduct, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Fine Art, Visual Arts, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification preferred.
* Teaching experience in an American curriculum, primary, charter school, or international school setting preferred.
* Strong understanding of classroom planning, creative learning, assessment, and student development.
* Ability to deliver age-appropriate art lessons that encourage imagination, skill development, and confidence.
* Experience supporting students for whom English is not the first language is an advantage.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adapt planning, classroom environment, and learning strategies.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for student wellbeing.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to daily school life.
* Recent involvement in extra-curricular or creative school activities is preferred.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
