Role Context
The Assistant Principal will support school leadership by quality assuring staff and student activity, leading assessment systems, strengthening data use, and helping implement school improvement priorities. The role has direct impact on student attainment, teacher performance, assessment planning, ADEK compliance, professional development, operational efficiency, and the overall learning environment across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Direct and quality assure staff and student activities to maintain a safe, orderly, and learning-focused school environment.
* Lead assessment scheduling in collaboration with the Vice Principal Curriculum and Heads of Department.
* Oversee assessment processes including MAP, TALA, TIMs, and related school performance indicators.
* Build a data-rich school culture where assessment evidence informs instructional planning and student support.
* Collaborate with the Principal and Vice Principal to supervise and evaluate teachers, supervisors, and curriculum support staff.
* Support recruitment by screening, interviewing, and recommending applicants for teaching and non-teaching roles.
* Implement student achievement improvement actions aligned with the school development plan, ADEK regulations, and Aldar Education expectations.
* Support school improvement plans, standardized testing, remediation, data collection, reporting, and academic intervention planning.
* Direct the MAP and Exact Path student achievement plan and monitor progress against agreed improvement targets.
* Develop progress-based testing schedules in coordination with the assessment team.
* Oversee assessment, reporting, student attainment tracking, progress monitoring, records management, and archiving processes.
* Work with the senior leadership team on instructional methods, teaching materials, learning strategies, and academic programmes.
* Assist in planning and implementing staff CPD that improves teaching quality, professional growth, and school efficiency.
* Ensure required reports, forms, and data submissions are completed accurately and on time.
* Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support teams to improve team effectiveness and school operations.
* Support the Principal with additional leadership duties, strategic tasks, and operational priorities as assigned.
* Promote high expectations, professional accountability, student wellbeing, and safeguarding across the school community.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
* Recognised teaching qualification or school leadership qualification preferred.
* Experience in school leadership, academic coordination, assessment, or curriculum improvement.
* Strong understanding of American curriculum school operations, assessment systems, and student achievement planning.
* Experience working with MAP, Exact Path, standardized testing, or school data platforms is highly desirable.
* Ability to analyse student data and convert findings into practical instructional improvement actions.
* Strong knowledge of school improvement planning, teacher evaluation, CPD planning, and academic reporting.
* Understanding of ADEK expectations, school KPIs, compliance requirements, and student progress measures.
* Excellent communication, organisation, leadership, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy school environment.
* Professional approach to staff supervision, recruitment support, student wellbeing, and operational decision-making.
* Commitment to safeguarding, inclusive practice, high standards, and continuous school improvement.
* Police clearance, satisfactory references, and safeguarding checks required for appointment.
