Role Context
The Career Counselor - Student Guidance will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to provide structured career guidance and higher education support. The role includes individual counseling, group sessions, career assessments, university application guidance, student development workshops, and coordination of career-related activities. The counselor will help students understand their strengths, explore future study options, and prepare confidently for local and international education pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to guide students on academic pathways, subject selection, future study options, and career opportunities.
* Support students with higher education admissions for universities in the UAE, UK, USA, Canada, India, and other international destinations.
* Conduct career guidance workshops, seminars, student assessments, and parent engagement sessions.
* Assist students in understanding career interests, personal strengths, academic performance, and long-term professional goals.
* Guide learners in preparing university applications, personal statements, admission documents, scholarship applications, and interview readiness.
* Coordinate university fairs, guest lectures, career talks, internship awareness sessions, and placement-related activities.
* Collaborate with teachers and academic teams to align counseling support with each student’s learning profile, strengths, and aspirations.
* Maintain updated knowledge of university admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, study destinations, and global education trends.
* Provide personal development support covering communication, time management, study skills, decision-making, confidence building, and soft skills.
* Use counseling tools, student records, and assessment insights to provide practical and personalized guidance.
* Communicate effectively with students and parents while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical counseling standards.
* Support a positive school culture by encouraging students to make informed academic and career decisions.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Career Guidance, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Career Counselor in the UAE.
* Strong knowledge of global university application processes, including UAE, UK, USA, Canada, India, and other international admissions systems.
* Experience guiding students on subject selection, higher education planning, scholarships, and career pathways.
* Ability to conduct career assessments, counseling sessions, workshops, and parent information meetings.
* Certifications in career counseling, psychometric testing, student guidance, or related areas will be an added advantage.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills.
* Strong ability to work with students from diverse academic backgrounds and learning needs.
* Professional approach to confidentiality, student wellbeing, and ethical counseling practice.
