Role Context
The Chemistry Teacher will support high standards of science teaching and learning by delivering engaging Chemistry lessons, strengthening curriculum planning, monitoring student progress, and contributing to department improvement. The role requires an educator who can raise attainment, close learning gaps, support students with varied needs, and contribute to enrichment, revision, and academic support programmes across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Chemistry lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and school academic expectations.
* Support the development and implementation of department policies, teaching practices, and learning strategies.
* Contribute to short, medium, and long-term planning for Chemistry and wider science department improvement.
* Use assessment data to identify underachieving students and create practical action plans to improve progress.
* Analyse school data to support department planning, student intervention, and school self-evaluation processes.
* Help develop, review, and improve schemes of work for all relevant year groups and Chemistry courses.
* Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for students of all abilities.
* Support suitable provision for SEN-POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students within Chemistry learning.
* Maintain high expectations for achievement, behaviour, classroom routines, and quality of learning.
* Evaluate teaching and learning practice and contribute to identifying effective strategies and areas for improvement.
* Support IGCSE and IB Diploma booster, revision, enrichment, and after-school academic sessions.
* Contribute to the school’s CAS programme and wider student development opportunities where appropriate.
* Use classroom space, resources, and learning materials to create a stimulating science learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leaders, students, and parents to support academic success.
* Uphold safeguarding expectations, professional conduct, school policies, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a closely related science subject.
* PGCE, QTS, or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
* Experience teaching the UK curriculum or English National Curriculum.
* Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry with the ability to support examination-level learning.
* Proven record of raising standards, closing learning gaps, and improving student outcomes.
* Experience supporting students across different ability levels, including SEN-POD, gifted and talented, and EAL learners.
* Ability to use assessment data to guide planning, interventions, and progress monitoring.
* Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a teaching team.
* Leadership experience or the ability to contribute to department development at different levels.
* Commitment to enrichment, revision support, and wider school life.
* Passionate, caring, and professional approach to teaching and student wellbeing.
* Satisfactory references and police clearance required for appointment.
