Role Context
The Chemistry Teacher - GCSE and A Level will join GEMS Founders School, Dubai and support students through inspiring science teaching, strong subject knowledge, and a creative approach to classroom learning. The role focuses on helping students develop scientific understanding, practical investigation skills, analytical thinking, examination confidence, and curiosity about Chemistry. The successful teacher will also contribute to the wider school culture by supporting extra-curricular activities, community initiatives, and the school values of Grow, Flourish, and Succeed.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Chemistry lessons for GCSE and A Level students.
* Create engaging learning experiences that build scientific knowledge, practical skills, problem-solving ability, and examination readiness.
* Teach Chemistry concepts clearly, including atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, organic chemistry, quantitative chemistry, and practical investigations.
* Use creative and enthusiastic teaching strategies to support student curiosity and confidence in science.
* Monitor student progress through assessment, classroom performance, homework, practical work, and examination preparation.
* Provide timely feedback and targeted support to help students improve attainment and close learning gaps.
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varied abilities, learning styles, and academic goals.
* Maintain high expectations for classroom conduct, scientific accuracy, laboratory safety, and student engagement.
* Collaborate with science department colleagues to develop resources, share best practice, and support curriculum improvement.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders regarding learning progress and support needs.
* Support students in developing independent study habits, analytical writing, data interpretation, and scientific evaluation skills.
* Contribute to extra-curricular programmes, science enrichment, school events, and community-based initiatives.
* Engage in professional development through GEMS training pathways, BSO-linked programmes, and reflective teaching practice.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education or Bachelor\'s degree in Science with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven experience teaching Chemistry to GCSE and A Level.
* Strong subject knowledge with the ability to explain complex Chemistry concepts clearly.
* Exemplary classroom practice with a record of delivering outstanding learning and teaching.
* Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching inside and outside the classroom.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with colleagues, students, and parents.
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive and purposeful learning environment.
