Position Overview
Chief Academic Officer - Education Leadership in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Education Management role focused on leading academic strategy, curriculum excellence, instructional improvement, professional development, inclusion, assessment quality, and school improvement across LEAMS Education schools. This position is suited for an experienced academic leader with strong KHDA framework knowledge, proven educational leadership capability, and a clear commitment to innovation, equity, safeguarding, and high-quality student outcomes.
Role Context
The Chief Academic Officer - Education Leadership will work closely with School Principals, the Corporate Academic team, Head of Schools, senior leadership teams, inclusion leaders, and the Board of Directors to shape academic direction across the group. The role requires strategic planning, curriculum oversight, academic accountability, stakeholder engagement, professional development leadership, and continuous monitoring of school performance. The successful candidate will drive standards-aligned instruction, support equitable learning opportunities, and ensure that academic systems meet student needs across all LEAMS Education schools.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop strategic academic plans with School Principals, the Corporate Academic team, and school senior leadership teams to ensure equitable, standards-aligned instruction for every student.
* Lead academic excellence, curriculum innovation, instructional improvement, assessment quality, and student achievement across the education group.
* Direct and evaluate academic business units including curriculum and instruction, instructional improvement, professional development, and student support services.
* Collaborate with the Head of Schools and academic leaders to review existing curriculum programs, teaching practices, assessment outcomes, and school improvement priorities.
* Use school observations, performance data, and accountability testing results to guide updates to School Improvement Plans.
* Establish clear direction for school improvement efforts by monitoring school performance, student achievement, academic progress, and teaching quality.
* Deliver written and oral presentations on academic accountability, curriculum progress, and school improvement to key stakeholders.
* Coordinate with the Head of Inclusion to ensure student support services, special education, and RTI processes are implemented in line with UAE and KHDA framework expectations.
* Promote a strong commitment to child safeguarding, student welfare, inclusion, and safe learning environments across all schools.
* Plan, develop, and implement professional development activities for teachers to strengthen pedagogy, curriculum delivery, assessment practice, and student support.
* Monitor the coordination of professional development efforts and ensure effective implementation of new and existing educational programs.
* Support School Principals and senior leadership teams in improving academic standards, teacher performance, curriculum alignment, and student outcomes.
* Collaborate with school systems, community agencies, local universities, and education partners to promote shared learning and academic development.
* Use technology effectively in administrative and educational settings to improve reporting, monitoring, communication, and learning outcomes.
* Supervise multiple academic functions with full accountability for effective operations, measurable results, and continuous improvement.
* Build consensus among stakeholders through strong communication, problem-solving, relationship management, and collaborative decision-making.
* Visit all LEAMS Education schools regularly and work on-site during business hours and as required to support academic priorities.
* Perform additional duties assigned by the Board of Directors in line with lawful directives and organizational goals.
Ideal Profile
* Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience at campus level and central administration level is required.
* Proven track record in educational leadership, academic innovation, curriculum improvement, and school performance development.
* Strong strategic thinking ability with a clear passion for academic excellence and equitable student learning.
* Thorough knowledge of the KHDA Education Framework.
* Strong understanding of curriculum and instruction, assessment systems, student-related services, school improvement, and academic accountability.
* Expertise in curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and instructional improvement through an equity-focused approach.
* Experience directing academic programs, teacher development, inclusion support, professional learning, and performance improvement initiatives.
* Strong commitment to child safeguarding, student wellbeing, and safe learning environments.
* Proven ability to supervise multiple functions with accountability for effective operations and measurable outcomes.
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage complex academic priorities across multiple schools.
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present clearly to leadership, school teams, parents, and stakeholders.

* Ability to use computer technology effectively in administrative, reporting, and educational settings.
