Role Context
The Classroom Assistant provides practical learning and pastoral support that enables pupils to participate confidently in lessons and wider school activities. Working under the direction of teachers, the role supports individual learners and small groups, reinforces classroom instruction, monitors assigned work, and helps maintain an orderly and inclusive learning environment.
The position is particularly important for pupils who require additional academic, emotional, behavioural, or social support. By observing progress, reinforcing achievement, maintaining focus, and communicating relevant information to teachers, the Classroom Assistant contributes directly to student development and the effectiveness of daily classroom teaching.
Key Responsibilities
* Support individual pupils and small groups inside and outside the classroom throughout the school day.
* Help students participate fully in academic, social, physical, and extracurricular activities.
* Provide individual or group instruction as directed by the class teacher.
* Demonstrate learning activities and reinforce concepts already introduced during lessons.
* Monitor work assigned by teachers and provide appropriate guidance while pupils complete tasks.
* Check and correct pupil work in progress according to teacher instructions.
* Encourage students to remain focused and complete assigned activities.
* Praise achievement and reinforce positive learning behaviours.
* Report observations about pupil progress, participation, and difficulties to the class teacher.
* Assist with the implementation of individual education programmes for pupils requiring additional support.
* Help monitor progress against individual learning and development objectives.
* Support pupils experiencing emotional, behavioural, or social difficulties.
* Help students develop confidence, communication, independence, and appropriate social skills.
* Supervise pupils in classrooms and other designated school areas.
* Support classroom behaviour management in line with established school policies.
* Reinforce expectations relating to respect, self-discipline, cooperation, and positive conduct.
* Assist teachers with maintaining accurate pupil records and classroom documentation.
* Check attendance and communicate relevant information to teaching staff.
* Prepare classroom materials, learning resources, displays, and examples of pupil work.
* Support photocopying, resource preparation, filing, and other practical tasks required for teaching.
* Reorganize materials, resources, and classroom equipment at the end of lessons or the school day.
* Maintain awareness of health and safety requirements and act proactively when risks are identified.
* Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, relevant legislation, and health and safety requirements.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, learning support staff, and other members of the school community.
* Contribute positively to the school\'s educational aims and inclusive learning culture.
* Maintain professional conduct and protect the welfare, dignity, and confidentiality of pupils.
Ideal Profile
Candidates must be UAE Nationals and should hold at least a secondary school certificate. Applicants holding a Bachelor\'s degree may also be considered.
A minimum of 2 years of experience working within a school environment is required.
Appropriate English language ability is necessary to support the curriculum, communicate with pupils, understand teacher instructions, and assist with classroom activities.
Previous experience supporting students for whom English is not their first language is particularly valuable.
The successful candidate should demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for working with children, patience, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting the development of the whole child.
Experience helping with extracurricular activities is desirable, along with a positive and solution-focused approach to everyday school life.
Candidates should be comfortable supporting behaviour management, individual learning needs, classroom routines, and pupil welfare while working under the guidance of qualified teachers.
