Role Context
The Classroom Assistant will provide daily support to class teachers and pupils by helping with learning activities, student supervision, classroom preparation, displays, attendance, pupil records, and behaviour support. The role contributes to student wellbeing, classroom organisation, social and emotional development, health and safety, and the school’s wider aim of nurturing learners through collaboration, leadership, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
* Support individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom.
* Help students participate fully in learning activities and school routines during the day.
* Provide support for pupils’ social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
* Assist teachers in implementing individual education programmes for pupils or small groups.
* Help monitor pupil progress and share relevant updates with class teachers.
* Support students with emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
* Help pupils develop social skills, confidence, positive behaviour, and classroom participation.
* Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records and checking attendance.
* Prepare and present classroom displays of pupils’ work.
* Support teachers with photocopying, material preparation, and other classroom tasks.
* Give group or individual instruction as directed by the teacher.
* Demonstrate instructional activities and help pupils understand assigned tasks.
* Monitor work assigned by the teacher and support pupils while work is in progress.
* Keep pupils focused on classroom tasks and learning expectations.
* Praise and reinforce pupil achievements and report progress to the teacher.
* Reorganise materials and classroom resources at the end of the day.
* Supervise pupils in classrooms, corridors, activity areas, and other school locations.
* Support behaviour expectations and promote pupil self-esteem in line with school policy.
* Work with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals when required.
* Attend team meetings, staff meetings, and school training sessions as needed.
* Follow school policies, health and safety requirements, safeguarding standards, and professional conduct expectations.
* Complete additional duties as requested by the Principal.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* Secondary school certificate, diploma, or relevant education support qualification preferred.
* Previous classroom assistant, teaching assistant, child support, or school support experience is an advantage.
* Ability to support pupils with learning, behaviour, emotional, social, and physical development needs.
* Good communication skills for working with pupils, teachers, support staff, and school leaders.
* Patient, caring, respectful, and professional approach to working with children.
* Ability to follow teacher instructions and support classroom routines effectively.
* Strong attention to health, safety, attendance, punctuality, and appropriate professional presentation.
* Positive attitude toward teamwork, school policies, and student wellbeing.
* Willingness to attend meetings, training, and professional support sessions.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding expectations.
* Police clearance, satisfactory references, or relevant safeguarding checks may be required for appointment.
