Role Context
The Computer Science Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support students through structured lessons that build digital literacy, computational thinking, creativity, and confidence with technology. The role contributes to student achievement, parent communication, curriculum delivery, classroom organisation, safeguarding practice, and Aldar Education’s wider mission to empower the next generation through innovative and inclusive learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring Computer Science lessons that support student success and strong learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions that meet curriculum expectations and the needs of different ability levels.
* Organise classroom provision, digital resources, learning materials, and displays to create a positive technology-focused environment.
* Support students in developing computing knowledge, digital literacy, problem-solving skills, creativity, and safe technology habits.
* Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching strategies to motivate learners and encourage active participation.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and maintain consistent curriculum delivery.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment expectations and development targets.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and student progress support.
* Take responsibility for the progress, wellbeing, and daily classroom learning experience of assigned students.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
* Support learners through inclusive teaching approaches that encourage confidence, independence, and curiosity.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when required.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and manage classes using approaches suited to students’ needs.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, digital responsibility, and positive attitudes toward learning.
* Work as part of curriculum action groups, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school outings, evening or weekend activities, community events, and extra-curricular programmes when required.
* Run a weekly extra-curricular activity each term.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication.
* Maintain professional standards, safeguarding responsibilities, school policies, and Aldar Education expectations at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computing, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, classroom provision, assessment, and student development.
* Ability to teach Computer Science in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate way.
* Experience working with students for whom English is not the first language is an advantage.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating and nurturing children.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adapt planning, classroom environment, and learning strategies.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple classroom responsibilities.
* IT literate and confident using online technologies to support 21st century teaching.
* Respectful understanding of regional values and the wider Abu Dhabi school community.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
