The Design Technology and Art Teacher will support student learning across creative and practical subject areas, helping learners explore design concepts, artistic techniques, materials, visual communication, and project-based work. Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Design Technology and Art lessons aligned with British curriculum expectations.
* Create engaging classroom experiences that develop creativity, technical skills, visual awareness, and problem-solving ability.
* Support students in exploring materials, design processes, artistic techniques, and practical project work.
* Use evidence-informed teaching strategies to improve student understanding, progress, and confidence.
* Differentiate lessons to support a fully inclusive classroom environment and meet varied student needs.
* Assess student work regularly and provide clear feedback that helps learners improve their creative outcomes.
* Promote safe, responsible, and effective use of tools, materials, equipment, and classroom resources.
* Encourage students to develop original ideas, creative risk-taking, and reflective design thinking.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum planning, assessment consistency, and school improvement goals.
* Contribute to exhibitions, displays, competitions, creative showcases, and wider school activities.
* Communicate professionally with parents, students, and school leaders regarding progress and learning needs.
* Uphold safeguarding requirements, school policies, professional conduct, and GEMS values at all times.
* Support a positive classroom culture where students feel confident to create, question, improve, and succeed.
Ideal Profile
* B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, QTS, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Degree or strong academic background in Design Technology, Art, Fine Art, Product Design, Visual Arts, or a related subject.
* Experience teaching Design Technology and Art in a British curriculum or international school setting preferred.
* Strong knowledge of creative education, practical project work, assessment, and classroom management.
* Ability to deliver engaging lessons that balance artistic creativity with structured design thinking.
* Confident in using a range of materials, tools, visual techniques, and creative learning resources.
* Understanding of inclusive teaching practice and the ability to support students with different learning needs.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Reflective, solution-focused, and committed to continuous professional development.
* Strong commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and high standards of professional practice.
* UK-enhanced DBS, police clearance, or equivalent background check required for appointment.
