Role Context
The English Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support students by creating a positive classroom environment where language skills, confidence, communication, reading, writing, and critical thinking can develop. The role contributes to student achievement, curriculum delivery, parent engagement, behaviour expectations, and the wider school mission of exciting, challenging, and empowering learners.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring English lessons that support student achievement and strong learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions that meet curriculum expectations and the needs of different ability levels.
* Organise classroom resources, displays, and learning areas to create an engaging English learning environment.
* Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
* Use imaginative and student-centered teaching methods to motivate learners and encourage active participation.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and maintain consistency across the curriculum.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment processes and learning expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and student progress support.
* Take responsibility for the progress, wellbeing, and classroom learning experience of assigned students.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate with parents and caretakers about student progress, achievement, and wellbeing during meetings and conferences.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when required.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use suitable strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, confidence, and positive learning habits.
* Work as part of curriculum action groups, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special school events.
* Support outings, school activities, community events, and extra-curricular programmes, including a weekly ECA each term.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication processes.
* Uphold safeguarding expectations, school policies, professional conduct, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, classroom provision, assessment, and student development.
* Passion for English teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Ability to create engaging lessons that support language growth, literacy skills, and learner confidence.
* Excellent communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adjust planning, classroom environment, and learning strategies.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive, solution-focused approach to school life.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
