Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking, reading confidence, writing skills, and a love of language.
* Teach Secondary English through inquiry-based methods aligned with IB learning principles and international school standards.
* Support students in developing strong communication, analysis, interpretation, research, and academic writing skills.
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of EAL learners, gifted students, and students requiring additional learning support.
* Use assessment data, classroom observations, and student feedback to guide teaching, track progress, and provide targeted support.
* Integrate digital tools, creative resources, and modern teaching strategies to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
* Collaborate with colleagues to design IB-aligned curriculum plans, assessments, learning materials, and interdisciplinary activities.
* Build a supportive, inclusive classroom culture that reflects the IB Learner Profile and GEMS values.
* Communicate clearly with parents and school teams to support student wellbeing, academic progress, and personal growth.
* Contribute to co-curricular activities, school events, reading initiatives, community programmes, and wider school life.
Ideal Profile
* Certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent with English specialism.
* Minimum 3 years of solid experience teaching Secondary English in a school environment.
* Experience teaching within an IB curriculum school is preferred.
* MYP and DP English teaching experience is preferred but not essential.
* Strong knowledge of English language, literature, inquiry-based learning, assessment, and curriculum planning.
* Ability to inspire young learners through creative, student-centered, and reflective teaching practice.
* Confident in supporting diverse learners, including multilingual students and students with different learning needs.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
